A proposito di questo titolo
On September 19, 1961, Betty and Barney Hill drove home through the White Mountains of New Hampshire and arrived two hours late, with thirty-five miles of road they could not account for. Under hypnosis two years later, they described being taken aboard a craft, examined by figures with large wrap-around eyes, and shown a star map. James follows the case through the hypnosis sessions, the star map, and the skeptical evidence — the Cannon Mountain beacon, the Outer Limits episode, and what hypnosis does to memory. What was verified? Two honest witnesses lost two hours; their watches stopped; the dress and the car carried unexplained marks. What was not? The abduction as described under hypnosis — the star map does not survive better data, and the memories match Betty's dreams written down before hypnosis. Verdict: sincere but unsupported.
