These files were not meant to be found. The Millbrook Files is an investigative horror podcast following independent podcaster Avery Quinn as she sets out to document the strange folklore surrounding one forgotten small town. Urban legends. Haunted locations. Unexplained disappearances. Forgotten cemeteries. Scary stories everyone swears happened to a friend of a friend.

Then a package arrives.

Inside: a weathered red binder labeled The Campfire Protocols, a collection of bizarre rules supposedly written by the people responsible for patrolling Blackwood Forest. Rules that make no sense... until listeners begin recognizing them, strangers start warning Avery to stop asking questions, and people begin remembering the town differently.

This is not a ghost story. This is evidence.

Presented as a real investigative podcast recorded in real time, The Millbrook Files is a serialized audio drama horror experience. Every episode is another piece of a conspiracy you were never supposed to uncover. Records disappear, witnesses change their stories, entire places vanish from history. And somewhere in the background of every investigation, watching from just beyond the edge of the frame, is a silent figure known only as The Man in the Hat.

Some stories are meant to be told….Others were buried for a reason.

Every town has that place, the one your parents told you never to go. For us, it was Shadow Wood, a haunted abandoned cemetery somewhere on the outskirts of town. Some people claim to see ghosts between the graves or children laughing where there are none. And in the center of it all, an old mausoleum, padlocked and chained shut.

Everyone knows the warning: don't wake him up.

  • File# 005 A Warning Nobody Was Supposed to Find
    Aug 3 2026

Have you ever inherited a story from someone you've never met?

Not money or a family heirloom, but a story. One that somehow survived even though the people who were supposed to remember it didn't.

Last week, Avery Quinn stood in a parking lot at 8:59 p.m. and watched an entire crowd go silent without a signal. This week, Avery went back. Not because St. Matthew's Church is haunted and not to collect evidence of a conspiracy. Because there was one simple question nobody in Millbrook has been able to answer: why does an entire town keep showing up to a memorial when nobody remembers what happened?

What Avery found was a journal written by Father Calloway. A man who spent the last years of his life battling dementia, and the years before that quietly documenting something in Blackwood Forest that Millbrook's small town secrets seem designed to obscure. His entries are fragmented and sometimes contradictory. The kind of writing that could be the testimony of a witness or the unraveling of a frail mind.

In File 005, Avery sits with both possibilities because this is where things get harder. Human memory is fragile. People misremember, they combine stories, fill in blanks, unintentionally inherit trauma they didn't live through. An honest investigation has to weigh the extraordinary against the ordinary and the ordinary explanation here is that a kind old man with dementia wrote a journal full of lost history that means nothing….except the bell still rings every year.

And an entire town keeps showing up to observe forgotten traditions they cannot explain. Maybe that's all Bell Night is. A community holding onto something long after the reason has been forgotten. Or maybe Father Calloway was trying to warn whoever came after him.

    That's for you to decide.

  • File# 004 What if No One is Lying?
    Aug 2 2026

Last week, I thought someone was lying.

Maybe the anonymous man with the altered voice. Maybe the county. Maybe whoever keeps sending me the emails. Someone, in all of this, had to be the one deliberately misleading everyone else.

That's what I believed when I drove to St. Matthews Church. I expected the abandoned church parking lot to be empty.

    It wasn't.

In File 004, Avery Quinn follows the one piece of advice an anonymous, unnamed, badge-less stranger gave before vanishing: ask ten people when the train station closed. What Avery finds instead is Bell Night. An annual gathering at an abandoned church that every single person in Millbrook knows about, attends, and cannot explain. They bring flowers and photographs and leave them as offerings for something none of them can name.

And at exactly 8:59 p.m. with no announcement, no signal, or anyone asking for silence, the almost full parking lot of people simply stopped talking. All at once. Like everyone reached the same thought at the same moment.

    Then the bell rang.

What Avery uncovers in this episode isn't a cover-up or a conspiracy. It's something far more unsettling, a town full of people with false memories who genuinely believe their own answers, who aren't hiding anything, who are just… missing the part that explains why any of it matters.

This isn't mass hysteria. This isn't collective memory loss. This is something someone engineered.

And for the first time since starting this podcast, Avery is facing a question they genuinely doesn't know how to answer:

What if the problem isn't that people are lying? What if something happened that no one is capable of remembering correctly… and that's exactly how someone is benefiting from it?
