Today we're looking at The Matrix and Fight Club, two anti-establishment films from 1999, the peak of Y2K anxiety and capitalist consumer disillusionment. Both of these films are notorious for being appropriated by conservatives and gender fascists, despite both having radical genderweird creators. Time to look at these films with fresh eyes. What if I told you that Fight Club was more "woke" than we've ever given it credit for? What if I told you that just reducing The Matrix to a trans allegory does it a disservice?
