Maj. (Ret.) Richard Ojeda is a combat veteran who deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan. Now he lives in Aberdeen, and he's the Democratic nominee in North Carolina's 9th District. His opponent is Rep. Richard Hudson, who has held the seat since 2013 and chairs the National Republican Congressional Committee. That makes Hudson the fifth-ranking Republican in the House and one of the most powerful people in Washington when it comes to deciding who gets elected.
