The Hiddeness of Chanukah

This lecture explores the historical and literary absence of Chanukah from the Tanach and the Mishnah, examining why this major festival lacks a dedicated tractate in the Talmud. Rabbi Trump analyzes various theories, ranging from political tensions during the Hasmonean era to the intentional preservation of Chanukah as a purely oral tradition. The discussion highlights the unique nature of Chanukah as the first post-prophetic, rabbinically mandated festival that continues to thrive through oral transmission rather than written canonization.
