With the amount of thinking and talking about our lifes that we do (and that we expose you to...) it is easy to believe that we have a clear multi-year plan and concrete goals to get to whatever destination it is we have in mind. And yet... goal setting is not something that comes natural to us. Corporate goals, however? Easy! Hit us with those kpi's and we'll run with them.

In this new theme we will discuss how to actually arrive at a vision for which you can create concrete goals. No, we will not dive into all the frameworks available to achieve your goals and make changes to your day-to-day, but we want to focus on the step prior. During the next episodes, we will have a guest who is a pro at setting goals, and who lives her life oriented around them. We also invite a life coach to figure out why we struggle so much to look further than next week!

But, in this intro episode we discuss our own relation to goal setting, look at some research around the topic, and even read a poem!

In the third episode of our theme on how our background influences our life choices we invited Fatima Essaidi. Fatima is the author of the book "we are the children of immigrants" in which she, together with her 22 co-authors, shares her story about growing up between two cultures. She shares the story of her own parents with us, as well as patterns and behaviors she recognizes in herself that have shaped both her personality and her life choices.

After (a very long) summer vacation with episodes being a little all over the place, we are back with our theme based episodes! We're kicking it of on the topic of how your upbringing and background affect your life choices. As we have been very active in advocating for women in STEM, we have looked at our field, and what brings people there/keeps them out through a rather gender coloured lens. In the next few episodes, we want to discover questions such as how does your cultural background influence your choices, what role does family play in your career and what role do bias and prejudice play in your direction in life.
