Thriving: Part 3 of 4 Stewardship Series

    Genesis 1:26 & Matthew 22:15-22

“Give to Caesar what belongs to Caesar, and to God what belongs to God.” Jesus’ familiar words are often treated as a lesson about money. But perhaps Jesus is asking a deeper question: What belongs to God? The coin bears Caesar’s image. Genesis tells us that we bear God’s image. Stewardship, then, begins long before we open our wallets. It begins with recognizing our identity, our dignity, and the One to whom our lives ultimately belong. We are not merely donors, volunteers, or resources for an organization. We are people created in God’s image. Stewardship is less about what we give than it is about who and whose we are.

Thriving: Part 2 of 4 Stewardship Series

    Exodus 32:1-14 & Matthew 22:1-14

What happens when God’s people lose track of where they are going? At the foot of Mount Sinai, Israel grows impatient and creates a golden calf. It isn’t simply a story about making a bad decision; it is a story about losing sight of the God who had already given them a future. In Matthew's parable of the wedding banquet, God's kingdom invite takes a new direction. Good stewardship requires more than managing what we have. It requires knowing why we exist and where God is calling us next. A clear mission keeps us from confusing activity with purpose and resources with results. When the mission is clear, generosity becomes movement—not maintenance. Good stewardship builds upon a mission that is clear and forward-moving.

  • Trust Is the First Gift

Thriving: Part 1 of 4 Stewardship Series

    Matthew 21:33-46

Generosity begins with trust. Before we talk about giving our money, our time, or our gifts, we need to ask a more basic question: Can we trust the people and the organization receiving them? In Jesus’ parable of the vineyard, the question is ultimately about what the tenants do with what has been entrusted to them. Healthy stewardship begins when an organization treats people, resources, and relationships as gifts rather than possessions. Good stewardship begins with an organization that is trustworthy.
