Introduction

What I find most remarkable about this passage of scripture is what isn’t there: There is no self-pity, no bitterness, no anger, no disillusionment and no despair.

Paul had learned the importance of living beyond adversity! Even while shackled in chains, he remained focused on the goal of proclaiming the gospel.

But Paul was just one of the countless, nameless thousands in the early church who lived beyond the adversity of persecution in order to fulfill the Great Commission.

Introduction

As much as we hate to admit it, sometimes we’re like that as Christians. Once a week we stop and tip our hat to God, and then immediately return to our busy lives.

But as we consider Paul’s closing thoughts to the believers in Colosse, it’s my prayer that the Holy Spirit will challenge us to a more vigorous lifestyle of faith like Paul’s who had “The Heart Of A Disciple Maker.”
