  • It's a holiday miracle! The season 2 finale is finally here!
    Dec 23 2022

Would you laugh if I said the episode has been sitting uploaded for the last month, and I just forgot the turn it on to "published"?

Well, that's not what happened, but that'd at least be a funny story. Anyway, now that the runoffs are done we can talk about the upcoming administration and what we can expect to be their first big action to be. I've got some announcements about myself following my loss, and I have some thoughts on what's going on with the border situation. Believe it or not I cram this all into about a half hour but I managed to leave out one thing

Have a safe and enjoyable holiday season. Get some cocoa, enjoy the finale, and I'll see ya in the next season.

  • Oops, I did it again - Special EPB announcement on where I've been and where I'm going
    Oct 6 2022

I did it again. I'm overdue on City Council recaps and I don't have one for you today, but I at least have a reason. Plus my update on what I teased last episode about showing up at call to the public to call out a rumor I had heard. Not too lengthy one and while I say it a few times in the episode, I'll mention it here, thanks for sticking with the show, getting engaged with local politics, and special thanks to those who actually read these descriptions.

  • TX House 74 Rep Eddie Morales Jr. makes his EPB debut to share his life story, reaching across the aisle, and how he's feeling as a new addition to the El Paso State delegation
    Sep 1 2022

Y'all know I love breaking down the illusion of separation between voters and their elected officials, so I'm particularly excited about having conversations like these. My (new) personal House Rep for the TX State House, Eddie Morales Jr. joins us to talk about his life story growing up, and how it shaped him into a Rep not afraid to get into the political muck of bipartisanship to find common ground and do his best to deliver to Texans, and now, El Pasoans.

  • My interview with TX Attorney General candidate Rochelle Garza! PLUS - the ink is dry, the pieces are set, we have our candidates for the November election for City Council Districts 1,5, 6, & 8 - let's analyze em!
    Aug 30 2022

I've had the opportunity to sit with Rochelle Garza, candidate for TX Attorney General! It's a brief convo but we cover a bunch ranging from her experience as a new mother, why Ken Paxton is a bad fit for mothers and Texans in general, and the failed action attempted by Reps Annello and Rivera - struck down by Mayor Leeser and four council reps, and why it should have passed. Following this great convo we analyze the 18 candidates (including yours truly) who have thrown themselves into the race for 4 different City Council elections this November.

  • FY 23 budget is adopted, but not without opposition, the Council takes positions for the 88th Legeslative session, and we have a bond election this November
    Aug 26 2022

Next year's budget has been adopted, we break down some of the many investments that are being made, as well as the logic (or in my opinion, lack of) of the representatives voting against said investments. We also had the council take stances on a number of legislative priorities and topics of legislation for them to support or oppose, and we have a new bond election coming this November, focusing on streets, parks, and climate planning. We cover all of it and more on this weeks City Council recap.

  • Jon Law on the '5 buckets' of investments UMC plans to make with the requested COs
    Aug 19 2022

In the second of hopefully three conversations around the UMC CO's, I sat with a UMC rep, Jon Law, to get the breakdown of what is being proposed and importantly, how it will affect you, the taxpayer.  Enlightening conversation, let me know where you stand after this and the LIBRE Initiative interview before we have our Commissioner interview.

  • Susan Hays on fixing school lunches, the importance of rural healthcare, and one of my favorite topics - the importance of cannabis reform
    Aug 17 2022

Fantastic convo here with AG Commissioner candidate Susan Hays. We spent a fair amount of time on the importance of cannabis reform, from an agriculture and economic lens, but did you know that your kids' school lunches are controlled by the AG Commision?? I didn't. And Susan has some great ideas on how to improve the health and lives of our kids, which we also unpack here. Definitely a great learning episode!
