This could be exacerbated by systemic healthcare challenges, the COVID-19 pandemic, and workplace conditions that violate nurses' ethical standards. We review what we think is the definition and causes of moral injury in nursing, some ethical dilemmas and lack of support in leadership and its impact on workforce retention. We are welcoming conversation from other nurses regarding the impact this may have had on their career and how it was handled.
