A proposito di questo titolo

Welcome to Diary of a Discarded Daughter, a Christian podcast about healing from childhood trauma, abandonment, abuse, rejection, and discovering who God really is in the middle of suffering.

Hosted by Lisa Schafer, founder of Christian Drama Queen Solutions, this podcast follows her forty-year journey through childhood sexual abuse, abandonment, betrayal, and the painful questions that often follow deep emotional wounds.

But this isn't simply a story about surviving trauma. It's the story of a forty-year battle to understand God.

After being abandoned and abused as a child, Lisa spent decades wrestling with questions many Christians quietly carry:

Where was God when I was being hurt?

Why didn't He stop it?

If God loves me, why did He allow it?

How can I trust a Heavenly Father when the people who were supposed to protect me failed me?

The wounds of her childhood shaped not only how she viewed herself, but how she viewed God. Pain, bitterness, fear, and unanswered questions distorted her understanding of His love, His character, and His purpose for her life.

Through years of searching, studying Scripture, wrestling with hard truths, and experiencing the healing power of Jesus Christ, Lisa discovered that God had never abandoned her. Instead, He was patiently renewing her mind, healing her heart, and teaching her to see both herself and Him through the truth of His Word rather than the lens of her trauma.

Each week, Lisa shares personal stories, biblical insights, practical encouragement, and lessons learned along the way as she helps listeners navigate their own healing journeys.

Topics include:

  • Healing from childhood abuse and trauma
  • Overcoming abandonment and rejection
  • Forgiveness and freedom from bitterness
  • Breaking generational cycles
  • Healing father wounds
  • Trusting God after suffering
  • Understanding God's sovereignty in pain
  • Discovering your identity in Christ
  • Finding purpose in your wounds
  • Emotional and spiritual healing through biblical truth

With raw honesty, heartfelt conversations, biblical wisdom, and occasional humor at her own expense, Lisa creates a space where women can stop pretending, start healing, and get honest about the wounds they've carried for far too long.

Whether you're struggling with trauma, wrestling with unanswered questions, battling bitterness, or searching for God's purpose in your pain, this podcast offers hope that healing is possible.

Not because the past changes. But because God changes us.

Grab your Bible, bring your questions, and join Lisa each week as she shares how God transforms discarded daughters into women who are healed, restored, and walking confidently in His purpose.

Because your wounds may explain your story—but they do not define it.

God gets the final word.

  • God's Sovereignty in Your Suffering E12of52 — Forgiving Offenders without Excusing the Offense

How do you forgive someone who has deeply wounded you without minimizing what they did? How do you release an offender without pretending the offense wasn't real?

Forgiveness is one of the most difficult parts of the Christian healing journey, especially when you've experienced abuse, betrayal, abandonment, rejection, or deep emotional wounds. Sometimes the hardest part isn't understanding that God calls us to forgive; it's figuring out how to forgive without feeling like we're excusing the person who hurt us.

In Episode 12 of of this 52 lesson series, God's Sovereignty in Your Suffering, we explore the biblical difference between forgiving an offender and excusing an offense. We'll examine what Scripture teaches about forgiveness, God's justice, surrendering bitterness, and trusting His sovereignty when someone else's actions have caused lasting pain.

Believe me, I'd never minimize your pain and suffering. Forgiveness doesn't mean denying the damage, removing healthy boundaries, restoring trust automatically, or giving someone continued access to your life.

God sees the injustice. He knows what happened. And His call to forgiveness does not require you to pretend otherwise.

Whether you've struggled with forgiving an abusive parent, an unfaithful spouse, a family member, a former friend, or someone who betrayed your trust, this episode will encourage you to approach forgiveness through the truth of God's Word rather than the expectations of other people.

As we continue exploring God's sovereignty in suffering, we'll consider how surrendering our right to personal vengeance allows us to trust God's justice and pursue the freedom He desires for us.

You can acknowledge the offense without excusing it. You can forgive without reconciling. And you can trust God with justice without carrying the burden of revenge.

    Who Should Listen?

This episode is especially for Christians navigating the aftermath of abuse, betrayal, toxic relationships, family wounds, rejection, and unresolved emotional pain. If you've struggled with forgiveness or wondered whether forgiving someone means minimizing what they did, this conversation is for you.

52 Lessons: God's Sovereignty in Your Suffering is about discovering biblical truth, finding hope in difficult seasons, and learning that even when people hurt us, God remains faithful.

You are not required to call evil good. You are invited to trust the God who sees, knows, and judges rightly.

Subscribe, follow the series, and share this episode with someone who needs encouragement on their journey toward biblical forgiveness and healing.

  • God's Sovereignty in Your Suffering E11of 52 - How Did Jesus Respond to Betrayal?

My apologies for the oddly inconsistent over-modulation in this episode gang. Looks like the Christian Drama Queen might need to invest in new equipment real soon. :-P

Episode 11: God’s Sovereignty in Your Suffering — How Did Jesus Respond to Betrayal?

Betrayal cuts deeply, especially when it comes from someone you trusted, loved, or never imagined would hurt you. Whether you’ve experienced rejection, abandonment, or the devastating pain of being betrayed by someone close to you, you may have wondered how you’re supposed to respond in a way that honors God.

In Episode 11 of God’s Sovereignty in Your Suffering, we turn our attention to Jesus and examine His response to those who betrayed Him. From Judas’s betrayal to Peter’s denial, Jesus experienced the heartbreak of being wounded by people who had walked closely beside Him. Yet His responses reveal profound truths about grace, forgiveness, and the sovereignty of God—even in the darkest moments of suffering.

As a discarded-daughter survivor, I understand that the wounds inflicted by those who should have loved us can leave lasting questions about our worth, our identity, and our ability to trust again. Through this episode, I invite you to consider what we can learn from Jesus about facing betrayal without allowing another person’s actions to define our hearts or dictate our future.

In this episode, we’ll reflect on:

    • How Jesus responded when those closest to Him betrayed or denied Him.
    • What His example teaches us about biblical forgiveness and extending grace.
    • How God’s sovereignty can give us hope when the actions of others leave us brokenhearted.
    • How we can entrust our pain, our pursuit of justice, and our healing to the Lord.

If you’ve been betrayed, abandoned, or deeply wounded by someone you loved, this episode is an invitation to look beyond the pain and look to Jesus. His response to betrayal offers us a powerful example of how to walk in truth and grace while trusting our Heavenly Father with the things we cannot change.

Your suffering is not hidden from God. Your pain matters to Him, and the sins of others do not determine your worth. Even when people fail us, we can find hope in the unchanging character and sovereignty of our Lord.

  • God's Sovereignty in Your Suffering - Lesson 10/52 What Forgiveness IS and ISN'T
    Oct 1 2026

    Send us Fan Mail

What does biblical forgiveness really look like when the person who hurt you caused deep, lasting wounds?

In Episode 10, Lisa takes a deeper look at God’s sovereignty in the midst of suffering and explores one of the most misunderstood parts of healing: forgiveness.

Drawing from Scripture and from her own experience as a discarded daughter survivor, she shares an honest perspective on what it means to forgive when the pain is real, the wounds run deep, and the person who caused the harm may never acknowledge what they did.

In this episode, we explore three foundational truths:

    1. Forgiveness is forgiving a debt.
Forgiveness does not pretend that the debt never existed. It recognizes the wrong that was committed and chooses to release the debt into God’s hands rather than carrying the burden of repayment ourselves.

    2. Forgiveness is NOT ignoring or enabling.
Biblical forgiveness does not mean excusing abuse, minimizing what happened, removing healthy boundaries, or placing yourself back in an unsafe situation. Forgiveness and accountability can coexist.

    3. Forgiveness reflects Christ.
As followers of Jesus, we are called to extend the kind of grace we have received from Him. Forgiveness points us back to the cross and reminds us that our ultimate source of justice, healing, and redemption is God.

If you have struggled with the question, “How can I forgive someone who hurt me so deeply?”, this episode (series) is for you.

Your suffering does not mean God has abandoned you. Your story does not have to end with what was done to you. And forgiveness does not mean denying your pain—it can be part of surrendering that pain to the God who sees, knows, and remains sovereign.
