In this Dastardly Objects episode of Velvet Guillotine, April Rain takes on the Busby Stoop Chair — the allegedly cursed pub chair tied to Thomas Busby, a murderer and counterfeiter hanged in 1702 outside his own inn.
Legend says Busby cursed the chair before his execution, promising death to anyone who sat in it after him. For centuries, the stories came rolling in: regulars, travelers, airmen, builders, drivers — all supposedly doomed after taking a seat.
One delicious problem.
The chair is too young.
