RAPID CITY, S.D. — Tara, owner of The Body Spa and Cryotherapy, joined Brandon Jones on the latest episode of The BrandoM Podcast to discuss the business’s services, its expanded facility and its work with veterans.

Tara said the spa moved into its current location about two years ago after a three-year renovation. The new space includes a larger infrared sauna and an electric cryotherapy chamber that gives clients more room to move than the business’s previous unit.

The spa offers massage therapy, whole-body cryotherapy, red light therapy, an infrared sauna, salt therapy, compression therapy, facials, body contouring and cryotherapy services for animals, Tara said.

She said the spa’s massage therapists tailor appointments to each client, whether the goal is relaxation or attention to a specific area of discomfort.

“We don’t know the stories of the client that comes in,” Tara said. “We don’t know how their bodies are going to react.”

Tara also discussed a South Dakota-funded pilot program that provided cryotherapy sessions to 72 veterans. The spa donated additional sessions. She said participants reported improvements in pain and well-being, though the interview did not establish whether cryotherapy caused those changes.

Supporting veterans is personal for Tara, whose husband is a combat veteran. She said her family also has a history of military and public safety service. Through the spa’s Freedom to Heal initiative, people can contribute to a fund that helps cover services for veterans facing gaps in care.

“We are about improving quality of life,” Tara said.
