In the village of Giripuram lived an elderly fisherman. Due to old age, he could no longer venture into the sea, so he fished in a nearby pond to sell his catch in the market. Worried about who would care for him in his final years, he was resting by the pond one afternoon when a majestic, white bird with silver feathers descended from the sky. Moved by his plight, the bird promised to bring him a large fish every morning. True to its word, the bird delivered a valuable fish to his doorstep daily, bringing comfort and prosperity to the fisherman's life.
One day, royal guards announced that the king had lost his sight, and only the blood of the mythical silver-feathered bird could restore it. The king offered half the royal treasury to anyone who could locate or capture it. Blown away by greed, the fisherman forgot all the bird's kindness and conspired with the guards. He invited the bird inside under the pretext of hosting a feast of gratitude. As the bird finished eating and prepared to take flight, the fisherman grabbed its leg and signaled the hidden soldiers. Realizing the betrayal, the powerful bird took off into the air, carrying the ungrateful fisherman along, and dropped him into the sea saying, "Do you return cruelty for the kindness I showed you?" From that day on, the silver-feathered bird was never seen on Earth again.
Moral:
Greed brings ruin. Betraying those who have helped you out of selfish greed leads to one's own downfall.
