Today on The Ave Podcast, I’m joined by the Author of "Shut Out: The Game That Did Not Love Me Black", Bernie Saunders. We discuss his hockey journey from the early beginnings where his love for the game developed in Montreal; the trials and tribulations he endured both on and off the ice; how the love for his brother translated into a scholarship at Western Michigan University; the successful NCAA career that followed, including his trajectory all the way to the NHL & becoming the fifth black hockey player to ever play in the NHL. Enjoy...
