  • Chapter 18: Find Your Focus
    May 14 2024

TW: Pet death, possible offensive language- not swearing

Welcome Emily and Jake the African Grey onto the pod today! She and I have become good friends over the years and I love talking to her. We talk about birds but the majority of this podcast is about being a content creator and what it takes to be on social media. It is so much harder than what many people think it is. Being a content creator will bring out some of your biggest insecurities and will force you to grow a thicker skin. We discuss this in depth in this Chapter. The thing that I love about this podcast is bonding with women who are so similar to me. But that means we tend to go on side quests while we chat. Emily and I do that a little here, but all of the conversations are valid. I love Emily, her heart and the way her brain works. She is so willing to share her “weird and dirty life” with us, and I am so here for it! I think we all are just a little weird here.

Thank you for being patient with us. I'm debating on taking a break for the summer and just recording a bunch of chapters so that we can catch up and have consistent content for you all during our “season.”

    Apr 2 2024

In this chapter we meet Kaylin, a vibrant woman from Hawaii, who dedicates her life to conservation biology. Join us as we discuss sexism in the birding community, Kaylin's unique journey shaped by her experience of growing up deaf, and the love she has for our feathered friends. Get ready for a captivating discussion filled with crazy bird facts that even caught me off guard! Kaylin's infectious enthusiasm and determination to pursue her passions illuminates even the darkest corners of reality with optimism. I'm deeply inspired by her resilience and honored to have such remarkable women like her in my circle, sharing their insights and wisdom. Thank you to all of them and all of you!

  • Chapter 14: You Are Worthy
    Mar 5 2024

Cristina is such an amazing woman and I'm so glad to have her on my podcast for you all to listen to today! I found her while doom scrolling Facebook and boy am I glad I did. She had some amazing words of wisdom to pass along to all of us, and some bomb shark facts as well. Did you know there are 500 different shark species in the world? And the smallest one is only 8 inches long?! We discuss caves and the things we learn from the ocean. This episode could be seen as dark, if you're like me and struggle with the uncertainty of where the world is going, but Cristina has a sense of hope that I am clinging to. Enjoy!

  • Chapter 13: Be the Change
    Feb 19 2024
Tabitha and I discussed identifying injustices in the world and taking action to address them. Even seemingly small efforts, like caring for "just a hamster," are crucial because if we don't step up, who will? I admire Tabitha and her dedication to making a difference. Please consider supporting her business, particularly her Instagram page, Happy Hamstery, to learn more about how we can improve the lives of these little creatures. Every conversation with our guests leaves me enlightened, so I encourage you to share what you've learned in the show comments!

  • Chapter 12: Be the Weird Kid
    Jan 30 2024
I had Lyssa from Lyssa's Lizards from Tik Tok on the pod! She and I talk about how complicated keeping multiple animals can become, from medical costs, emotional tolls of death and caging upgrades, it can really be draining. These animals watch us grow up and take the brunt of our mistakes. Talking to Lyssa really made me reprioritize what I am doing with my business and the animals I am caretaking, and I am so thankful for that! If you want to hear more from here, follow her at Lyssa's Lizards on Tik Tok and The Wild Type Podcast on streaming platforms!
