I took a week off podcasting. And then our entire life happened. In the last month, Ryan and I secretly eloped in the mountains with eighteen of our most beloved humans and Three days later I went in for my second frozen embryo transfer. Ten days after that, we found out it didn't work. Somewhere in the middle of all of that, Ryan came off his bike and ruptured both his elbow tendons and went in for major surgery. And then four days later, I went in for my own surgery, a D&C, hysteroscopy, biopsy and a poppy seed flush ..because when your husband is in hospital, apparently that's the time to book yourself in too. This episode is just us. No guest. No agenda. Just Ryan and I sitting down and catching you up on the most full on month of our lives. We talk about the elopement, we talk about the second transfer, what was different this time, why we were so confident, the moment the symptoms disappeared and I just knew, and we talk about the science of IVF in a way I've never unpacked it before. And we talk about what's next. Because we have two embryos left. And we are not done. This one is personal. This one is real. I've been asked about this guest more times than I can count and honestly, sitting across from Brooke McIntosh in the studio today felt like a full circle moment.

Brooke is the fastest woman to run around Australia. Two hundred and four days. Tens of thousands of kilometres. For mental health. As a volunteer. (We talk about that.)

But this episode is so much bigger than the run.

We go deep, fast, which is the only way I know how to do it, and within the first few minutes we're already in addiction, family estrangement, suicide, and what it actually means to love someone enough to let them hit rock bottom. I share something I rarely talk about publicly, my brother's own journey through addiction and the moment I told my mum if she gave him one more dollar, I would walk away. Brooke shares the reality of watching her younger sister spend four years on the streets, and why going hands off was the hardest and most loving thing her family could do.

Brooke's purpose is this: create safe spaces. Decrease suicide rates. And she is absolutely, completely, unwaveringly serious about it.
