Welcome to The 9:47 Podcast, where married life, ministry, business, parenting, homeschool, family chaos, movies, food, faith, and everything in between all collide. No polished scripts. No perfect schedule. Just real life, real busy, real love.Micah Smith
  • Ep. 8 “Holy Aura and a Dirty Dr Pepper” (with special guest Moses)
    Oct 20 2026

Bethany is out of town, so Micah brings in a substitute cohost: his son Moses. Is he a suitable replacement, or would everyone have been better off without an episode?

This week, Moses shares stories from his first concert, getting yelled at by security, and being the unofficial mayor of Market Basket. The two discuss why Moses hates wrestling but refuses to quit, the difference between natural talent and hard work, and why apparently everyone thinks they can beat up a Marine.

In Four on 9:47, they dive into Braveheart, Zombieland, Ender’s Game, and Unbroken, along with anime, stand-up comedy, and the emotional devastation of Cyberpunk. Plus, Moses explains the beauty of a perfectly balanced Taco Bell burrito, Micah defends Weird Al, and they discover just how different their musical tastes really are.

It’s an episode full of questionable food reviews, movie discussions, father-son banter, and a few surprisingly meaningful conversations about growing up, perseverance, and figuring out life.

And yes, Moses manages to end the episode with a burp.

  • Ep. 7 “Werewolves, Fire Trucks, and Yoga Pants”
    Oct 13 2026

This week on Life at 9:47, things get a little wild!

Wes takes his monster-hunting responsibilities seriously, tackling a werewolf at a homeschool picnic, defending his honor at co-op, and apparently considering a future in bank robbery. We also discover that apple picking has become an expensive carnival experience, but thankfully, cider donuts make everything better.

Micah talks about working alongside his brother, the challenges of preaching funerals, and Shane Gillis’s controversial joke about gym attire. Meanwhile, Bethany brings us a criminal mastermind who stole a fire truck while his own house was burning down. Spoiler: His getaway plan wasn’t particularly well thought out.

In our entertainment segment, we’re talking World War Z, Inglourious Basterds, Red Rising, and the challenges of raising Christian kids who enjoy more than VeggieTales. Plus, we review our expensive date night at The Library Restaurant in Portsmouth, complete with fancy bathrooms, delicious food, and a bill delivered inside a Jack Reacher novel.

We wrap things up with listener comments, questionable podcast titles, and our usual plea for five-star reviews.

It’s another week of marriage, parenting, homeschooling, church, small business ownership, and whatever else life throws our way.

Thanks for joining us at 9:47!

  • Ep. 6 “Six Raviolis & a Sexy Penguin”
    Oct 6 2026

This week on The 9:47 Podcast, we’re both tired, socially exhausted, and somehow that leads to one of our more ridiculous conversations.

We talk about life with teenagers who now have jobs, cars, and schedules of their own, a family trip to Keene where fun is mandatory until you move out, and Bethany’s women’s retreat involving axe throwing, knives, archery, and flying cast-iron skillets.

We also catch up on church life, forgiveness and healthy boundaries, what we’re reading and watching, and another date-night restaurant review. That date night leaves Micah staring sadly at a plate of six raviolis before making an even worse decision: telling his wife she bowls like a penguin.

A sexy penguin, apparently. That clarification did not help.

Plus, listener comments, social media updates, and the usual rabbit trails.
