Sue Mesick and Elissa Brewster are Alfred residents who are stepping up to advocate for greater transparency and public access to local government. Their efforts center around a November 3, 2026 municipal referendum that would require recordings of key town meetings and public hearings to be archived and made available for residents to watch live or on demand.

From town meetings to Planning Board and Select Board discussions, their goal is to make it easier for Alfred residents to stay informed about the decisions that affect their community, even when they can't attend in person.

On this episode of the 207 Collective Podcast, we'll talk about local government, community involvement, and why transparency and public access matter in a town like Alfred. The 207 Collective Is Available on all major listening platforms and is recorded in Alfred Maine.

Sharon Rose is a longtime broadcast journalist and familiar face to generations of Mainers. With nearly four decades in television news, including 30 years anchoring the morning news at NEWS CENTER Maine, she’s built a career around storytelling, connecting with people, and being a trusted voice in her community.

But Sharon’s story is also one of reinvention. In her 50s, she began challenging the notion that success has to follow a straight line, or that there’s an age when we’re supposed to stop dreaming bigger. That mindset led her to entrepreneurship and the travel industry, where she’s building a second career centered on helping others experience more of the world while creating new opportunities for themselves.

Passionate about personal growth, embracing change, and refusing to let age define what’s possible, Sharon believes some of life’s most exciting chapters are the ones we never saw coming.

Meet Bryce Lambert
Bryce Lambert is a Sanford native, local business owner, and an active supporter of the community he calls home. Over the years, Bryce has played a part in a wide variety of local programs and events, whether through sponsorships, donations, or simply volunteering his time to help make things happen.
In January, Bryce took another step in his community involvement when he was voted onto the board of the Sanford Mainers baseball team. After years of running a business and talking with people throughout the community, he continued to hear the same message: it was time to get involved with the Sanford Town Council.
Now, Bryce is ready to bring a fresh perspective, new ideas, and a business owner's point of view to the table. With his local roots, experience working with people, and commitment to giving back, he hopes to help make a positive difference in the future of Sanford.
For Bryce, getting involved is about more than just having a seat at the table. It's about listening to the people, finding solutions, and helping move his community forward.
