  • Meta Knows Your Kids’ Faces, Rite Aid Knows Your Name, and WordPress Doesn’t Know Anything Anymore
    Sep 28 2026

We’re back after a short break! This is the fourth episode of our weekly show where myself (helloitsmia.tech) and Ethan Rush each bring tech headlines we think are worth talking about, then break down what might be misleading or missing from the framing, and what people should actually take away from the story.

We do not tell each other which headlines we’ve chosen ahead of time. This week the headline discussions turned into a very AI privacy focused episode covering Meta and a viral privacy scare involving a creator’s children, Meta’s unreleased NameTag facial-recognition system, the debate over slowing frontier AI development, biometric surveillance inside stores, the latest WordPress/Automattic drama, and, because apparently we needed one more thing to worry about, weapons in space.

A few of these stories were still developing when we recorded. I’ve added editor’s notes where claims need correction on my substack here: https://helloitsmia.substack.com/p/meta-knows-your-kids-faces-rite-aid.

If you have a headline you’d like us to talk about, please send it my way. We’d love suggestions for future episodes.

  • Your Driver’s License May Be for Sale, and Your Robot Vacuum Could Be Watching
    Sep 4 2026

This is episode three of my weekly show, where myself (helloitsmia.tech) and Ethan Rush each choose a few of our favorite tech-related headlines from the week. We talk through what actually happened, what may be misleading or missing from the framing, and whether each headline is mostly clickbait… or something worth paying attention to.

We do not tell each other which headlines we have chosen ahead of time.

This week we look at how one Texas town’s Flock data became searchable by hundreds of outside agencies; a dark-web service claiming to sell more than 153 million driver’s-license records in a suspected breach linked to IDScan.net; a Taiwanese court case involving a robot vacuum and a secretly recorded affair; and California’s pending open-source carve-out from its Digital Age Assurance Act.

If you have a headline you’d like us to talk about, please send it my way. We’d love suggestions for future episodes.

  • ChatGPT Can Read Your iMessages, T-Mobile Cut a Cable to Stop Hackers, and More Tech News You Probably Missed
    Aug 29 2026

This is episode two of my weekly show where myself (helloitsmia.tech) and Ethan Rush each choose three of our favorite tech-related headlines from the week. We talk through what actually happened, what might be misleading or missing from the framing, and whether we think a headline is mostly clickbait… or something worth paying attention to.

We do not tell each other which headlines we’ve chosen ahead of time, and this week I also pulled one topic from a question box after asking last week’s listeners what they wanted us to cover.

This week we fact-check viral claims about anti-surveillance clothing and Flock cameras, OpenAI slowing some frontier-model training over cybersecurity concerns, ChatGPT’s new Apple Messages integration, Porsche selling MHP while signing a major AI and IT services deal, the T-Mobile security team physically cutting a cable during the Salt Typhoon intrusion attempt, and MIT researchers creating bacterial “living transistors.”

If you have a headline you’d like us to talk about, please send it my way. We’d love suggestions for future episodes.

This is the first episode of a new weekly show where myself (helloitsmia.tech) and Ethan Rush will choose 3 of our favorite tech-related headlines from the week. We’ll discuss the significance of each headline, what might be misleading or missing from the framing, and whether we think it is mostly clickbait… or something worth paying attention to.

We do not tell each other which headlines we’ve chosen ahead of time, and we try to pick stories we think the other person has not heard much about yet.

The logistics of getting this first episode together were a bit chaotic, so the audio quality is not where we want it to be. But we’re committed to getting better each week, and next episode should go much smoother. We hope you’ll watch and follow along as the show develops!
