  • You Are Not Lazy. You Are Just Avoiding the Thing God Told You to Do.
    Oct 15 2026

You are not lazy. But you are avoiding the thing. And that distinction? It is EVERYTHING.

I have been thinking about this so much lately because I am not someone who lays around doing nothing. I am up, I am moving, I have a full task list every single day. And I am still, in some seasons, avoiding the very thing God has called me to do. That hit me like a ton of bricks when I first heard it: sometimes laziness doesn't look like someone laying around. Sometimes it looks like a person full of potential who just keeps making appointments with tomorrow.

In this episode I am getting into one of the heaviest convictions on my heart right now. We talk about what it actually looks like when the devil makes you busy instead of bad, the Proverbs 24 field that went completely overgrown because nobody tended it (and what that looks like in YOUR life), why procrastination is really just fear wearing a responsible disguise, and the tiny two-task method I use when my brain will not cooperate. I also share something personal about my husband, his sobriety journey that started October 3rd of last year, and the wild God-given vision that downloaded into his heart in the months that followed. Because I think his story is the picture of what happens when you stop letting the enemy make you busy and you actually do the thing.

I want you to sit with this question: what is the thing you are avoiding right now? Not because you are lazy. Because you are scared, or comfortable, or waiting until everything feels right. Write down two things. Cross them off. Do it again tomorrow.

That is literally it. That is the whole secret. Let's go.

  • You Are Not Meant to Be Everybody’s Cup of Tea | God Designed You That Way on Purpose
    Sep 24 2026
Do you leave every social situation and immediately replay the whole thing in your head? Did I talk too much? Did that come off weird? Did I offend them? Do they even like me? Girl. You are not alone. And this episode is going to set you free from that weight. 💜 In Season 2 Episode 2 of Taking Life by the Raines, Brandi is getting into something she heard and could not stop thinking about: you were never meant to be perfectly experienced by everyone. Not every person you meet is going to like you, receive you, or understand you. And not only is that okay, it is by design. This is the episode for the people pleaser who has spent her whole life performing instead of being known. The woman who replays conversations at 2am. The one who wants so badly for people to understand her heart that she has been shrinking herself to make sure nobody is ever offended. This one is for you. In this episode: You were never meant to be perfectly experienced by everyone and that is the most freeing thing you will hear today The social anxiety of replaying every conversation: am I the only one who does this? You are not meant to be everybody's cup of tea and God designed it that way on purpose Being liked requires performance. Being known requires vulnerability. Why childhood trauma makes vulnerability feel dangerous and how to work through it The difference between self-awareness and self-surveillance and which one is keeping you stuck The enemy fights hardest right before you let somebody fully know you. Here is why. Being fully known by God is your superpower and it is the only opinion that actually sets you free Deeper, more meaningful relationships are waiting on the other side of this fear New episodes every Thursday. • I Was a People Pleaser Who Burned Out | Here Is What God Taught Me When I Finally Stopped
    Sep 17 2026
She is back. And she came back with the one thing God has been pressing into her all year. When things get hard, that does not mean stop. I took my birthday month off this podcast because I genuinely could not breathe. Running a supplement company, a beauty business, a hair company, showing up for my kids, my marriage, and my faith all at once had me drinking water out of a fire hydrant. I was burned out. Overwhelmed. And doing that thing we all do where we start reading our hard seasons as a sign from God that we must be going the wrong direction. That is the lie. And Season 2 of Taking Life by the Raines starts by calling it out. In this episode I share everything that has been happening in my world, the full life update, and the one conviction that is going to anchor this entire season. Because if you have ever stopped something God called you to because it got hard, this episode is for you. In this episode: - The people pleaser and burnout spiral: why I finally stopped and what I found when I did - Hard does not mean wrong: stop reading resistance as a no from God - Everything God has called you through was placed there to build you for what comes next - The early days with Casey: getting pregnant three months after meeting, boot camp, the courthouse, two kids in one year of knowing each other - Building Exalted supplements from my kitchen table with clean ingredients in a crowded market - Launching the Lira hair company and what Lira means in Hebrew - The possible third child: what God has been downloading in my heart and the vasectomy reversal conversation - Stop giving your kids your leftovers: they deserve the best of you, not what is left at the end of the day - Healing is generational wealth: do the hard work now so your kids do not carry it - Get a therapist not just your friends: the difference between unbiased truth and comfortable agreement - The prayer that has changed everything: God, if this is your will, convict my heart - When it gets hard, lean in and ask God what you are supposed to learn, not how to get out Welcome to Season 2. 💜 📲 Follow Taking Life by the Raines: Instagram: instagram.com/takinglifebytheraines/ TikTok: tiktok.com/takinglifebythera Facebook: facebook.com/takinglifebytheraines/ 📲 Follow Brandi: Instagram: instagram.com/brandirainesbeauty/ TikTok: tiktok.com/brandirainesbeauty Facebook: facebook.com/followbrandiraines/ About me and my links: msha.ke/brandirainesbeauty_ Shop my Komigo storefront: komigo.me/brandi 🎧 Listen on Spotify and Apple Podcasts: takinglifebytheraines.com #takinglifebytheraines #brandiraines #burnoutmom #healingisgenerationalwealth #peoplepleaser #christianwomen #mompreneur #hardseasonsfaith #womenempowerment #millennialmom 0:00 Welcome back: Brandi returns from her birthday month off 0:29 Burned out, overwhelmed, and drinking from a fire hydrant 0:57 Ten years of building online since 2017 1:40 Quitting her job to do makeup videos and Casey saying go for it 2:05 Women who started in 2017 are still here, and there is something to that 2:29 Casey: agape tattooed on his wrist, not a bad bone in his body 3:18 A possible third child: what God has downloaded in her heart 4:31 Exalted supplements: clean ingredients, kitchen table start, a crowded market 5:36 The beauty business: live every day, ten years strong 6:03 Lira: the hair company she just launched 6:46 Grateful and overwhelmed at the same time: the tension of this season 7:00 The one conviction God has pressed into her all year: get used to things being hard 7:52 Staying true to your calling when everything around you makes you question it 8:24 Stop playing the Holy Spirit and reading hard as a no from God 9:19 Looking back: the hard things were perfectly placed to build you for your blessings 10:13 Stop asking God to get you out: ask what you are supposed to learn 10:34 The early days with Casey: 22 years old, no college, no plan 11:48 Finding out she was pregnant while Casey was at boot camp 13:23 Married, pregnant, expecting again within one year of meeting each other 14:38 God was writing their story from the beginning 29:36 Watching her daughter struggle in middle school and knowing when not to rescue her 30:20 He is not going to be 30 peeing his pants: perspective on hard parenting seasons 31:00 Business clicks in cycles: showing up in the slow months too 31:30 When things are going well that is exactly when you plant seeds 32:17 Healing is not a checklist: it takes time and sitting with emotions 33:09 Healing is generational wealth: do the work now so your kids do not carry it 33:31 Get a therapist, not just your friends 34:21 Marriage counseling with Casey and what it did for their intimacy 34:45 Resistance does not mean give up, it means lean in 35:00 The prayer: God, if this is your will, convict my heart 36:18 Closing: I am not speaking from a high horse, I am speaking to myself ...
