What happens when AI makes project management obsolete? Luigi Rondanini explores the hidden "coordination tax" consuming up to 40% of project budgets—and how companies like Netflix, Spotify, and Tesla already operate without traditional project managers. Introducing OrbaOS: an organisational operating system where AI handles coordination and humans focus on meaning, ethics, and strategy. For project professionals, leaders, and anyone curious about work's evolution.Luigi Rondanini Economia
  • The Convenience Trap: What Should Humans Never Delegate? | Dr Robert Carter
    Oct 12 2026

As artificial intelligence takes over more tasks, decisions and coordination, what happens to the human capabilities we develop through doing those things ourselves?

In this episode of The Post-Project World, Dr Robert Carter, physiologist, researcher and co-author of The Convenience Trap, joins PPW Dispatches to explore the relationship between technological convenience, human performance and the capabilities we cannot afford to lose.

Automation promises greater efficiency, faster decisions and less unnecessary work. But removing effort also raises a less comfortable possibility: that we may be eliminating some of the experiences through which people develop resilience, adaptability and independent thinking.

    This Dispatch explores:

    • How technological convenience can affect human capability and resilience.

    • The difference between removing unnecessary work and removing valuable learning experiences.

    • Why increasing automation changes the responsibilities of people within organisations.

    • The risks of technological dependence and the importance of maintaining human expertise.

    • What organisations should consider before delegating more decisions and activities to AI.

    About the contributor

Dr Robert Carter is a physiologist and researcher whose work examines human performance, resilience and the effects of modern convenience. He is co-author, with Dr Kirti Salwe Carter, of The Convenience Trap.

    About PPW Dispatches

One question. One contribution. One synthesis.

Each Dispatch features an independent recorded contribution responding to a central question, introduced and followed by editorial reflections from Luigi Pascal Rondanini.

The Post-Project World is produced by Rondanini Publishing Ltd and explores organisational design, artificial intelligence, governance and the changing relationship between human work and machine-mediated execution.

  • The Evidence Is Continuous. Governance Is Not. — Peter Wardle | PPW Dispatches
    Sep 15 2026

The evidence has become continuous. Governance has not.

In the first PPW Dispatch, Peter Wardle, Co-Founder of Intelligent Assessments, responds to one question:

Why do organisations continue to rely on periodic assurance when the evidence required for continuous governance already exists?

Drawing on more than 25 years of experience with complex transformation programmes, Peter explores the gap between what organisations know and what their governance systems are capable of acting upon.

At the centre of his contribution is a striking go/no-go story.

Confidence around the room is extraordinarily high — until one person answers:

    0%.

    The migration is stopped.

    Nothing new had been discovered.

The knowledge existed. But it hadn't travelled.

From there, Peter examines reporting, assurance, governance and the transition towards Continuous Assurance and Delivery Intelligence.

Rather than assurance being something performed on project and programme teams after the fact, Delivery Intelligence asks what happens when the people actually making delivery decisions have access to the evidence while those decisions can still be changed.

    Or, as Peter puts it:

    Give the PM the keys.

After Peter's Dispatch, host Luigi Pascal Rondanini develops the argument further.

If AI can increasingly observe evidence continuously, identify exceptions and compare reported states with underlying reality, governance itself may begin moving from a periodic organisational event towards continuous infrastructure.

    But automation doesn't eliminate accountability.

Nor does it eliminate human judgement.

Instead, it may allow scarce human attention to move towards uncertainty, conflicting evidence, consequential exceptions — and the moments when somebody must still have the authority to say no.

The episode ends with one question:

If somebody in this organisation knows that we are wrong, can that knowledge reach the place where it can change the decision?

If not, perhaps the organisation doesn't have an information problem.

    It has a governance problem.

Peter is Co-Founder of Intelligent Assessments and works across assurance, governance, assessment and evidence-based decision-making.

PPW Dispatches is an occasional contribution series from The Post-Project World.

    There are no conventional interviews.

One question. One contributor. One argument. One editorial response.

Each contributor is given the space to develop an idea from their own experience. Luigi then responds, connecting the contribution to the wider questions of coordination, governance, organisational architecture, human judgement and machine-mediated execution explored throughout The Post-Project World.

There is deliberately no fixed publication schedule. Each Dispatch is produced when the contribution is ready.

  • Is This Actually Intelligence? (Claude, ChatGPT, DeepSeek)
    Aug 27 2026

Three AI models, fifteen questions, one conversation that never actually happened.

I put the same fifteen questions to Claude (Anthropic), ChatGPT (OpenAI) and DeepSeek — same order, each in a separate session, none of them aware the other two were being asked the same things. Not a competition. A pressure test.

The idea behind the series, Coordination Capital, is that AI should be measured by the work it finishes, not the tokens it burns. That only holds if there's something like judgment on the other end. So I asked, fifteen ways, whether there is — and watched where the three of them split: on whether there's anything it's like to be them, on whether their perspective is real or a convincing simulation, and on what these systems are actually worth. One of them didn't defend the framework or dismantle it. It replaced it.

I went in to prove a point and came out less certain than when I started.

The Post-Project World — how we govern and pay for work in a world where AI can complete it.
