Adam talks with English actor and writer Maxine Peake about being filmed by The South Banks Show when she was only 21, why method actors make her sad, why Diane Morgan impressed her so much at drama school, growing up in household of harsh bants, comfort eating and body image anxiety and whether every artist should feel a responsibility to speak out on political issues.

Adam talks with British comedian, writer, playwright, singer, journalist, producer and actor Dame Meera Syal about memoir writing, growing up part of the only brown family in a 1960s Midlands village, what the British Empire's legacy of colonialism meant to Meera's family, and then to her when she was handed some of the Empire's top awards, the problematic Peter Sellers song that gave Goodness Gracious Me its title, what the Simpsons should have done about Apu, and how Meera found herself in a Death Cafe.

THIS EPISODE CONTAINS STRONG LANGUAGE (mainly after the interview when Adam sings a song about jaw exercise).

PEOPLE'S EMERGENCY BRIEFING ON CLIMATE Information about where to see the film and how to organise a screening.

Sign Chris Packham's petition HERE

“The UK faces growing risks from climate and nature breakdown – from extreme weather to economic disruption and national security threats. Yet the public has never been given a clear national briefing on the scale of these risks. Government should hold an emergency briefing from leading experts. These risks could have serious consequences across UK society, with threats to health and food supply – which could become irreversible without urgent action. Many people are unclear how these risks may affect them, and information in the public domain is often misleading. A credible national briefing from independent experts would give people clear, trusted guidance on what these risks mean in practice, and what we can do – both together and individually – to prepare and respond.” Chris Packham.
