Not only was Sylvia an incredibly talented performer herself, playing guitar on Ike & Tina tracks as well as her own smash hits like "Love is Strange" and "Pillow Talk", Sylvia was known for her ear for hit tracks. The mind behind some of hip hop's most iconic, recognizable, and influential songs, she was an executive at Sugar Hill Records. "Rapper's Delight" and "The Message" changed the game forever, and it makes you wonder... where would hip hop be without her? Rapper's Delight is responsible for crossing genre lines and introducing the world to the music that was happening on the streets in Harlem.
