Wake Up Sydney brings you the essential start to Saturday, 17 October 2026, with the latest on weather, traffic and trains across Sydney. It’s a mild morning with possible showers around the city. The Sydney CBD is starting at 16°C on the way to 21°C, Parramatta is a cooler 11.6°C also heading for 21°C, and Bondi is sitting at 17.8°C with a top of 19°C. Take a layer and keep an umbrella handy just in case. On the roads, the key issue is at Auburn, where a car crash is affecting the M4 Motorway westbound off-ramp to Silverwater Road. The shoulder is impacted, emergency services and motorway crews are on site, and the speed limit has been reduced to 40 km/h. Drivers should slow down and allow extra travel time. For trains, planned maintenance is affecting several lines. Buses replace trains between Penrith and St Marys until around 8:20am, with Blue Mountains services running only to Penrith and T1 Western Line services operating between St Marys and the City on changed timetables. Buses also replace trains between Waterfall and Sutherland until 11:30am, with South Coast trains running only to Waterfall and T4 services operating to changed timetables. Some services are running every 30 minutes between 6:30am and 10:30am, with extra stops at Ashfield. Sydney Metro is running without listed incidents. With major events at Randwick, Olympic Park and The Domain later today, public transport is strongly recommended. Check Transport NSW updates before you head out.
