  • Season 2 Episode 8: Season Two Reflections: The Six Threads That Could Change Your Life
    Jul 6 2026

Sometimes the biggest lessons don't come from a single conversation. They emerge when you step back and notice the patterns that have been there all along.

In this season finale, I reflect on the seven conversations that shaped Season Two of Suzi Says. Looking across every guest, every story, and every difficult topic, six powerful themes kept appearing, threads connecting grief, resilience, identity, purpose, mental wellbeing, and the courage to choose yourself.

Rather than revisiting each episode one by one, I lay the entire season out on the workbench to uncover what these conversations have really been trying to tell us.

    We explored:

    • The difference between simply coping and genuinely being well.
    • Why resilience can sometimes be another name for hidden exhaustion.
    • How inherited beliefs shape our identity, and why it's never too late to reclaim authorship of your own life.
    • The unique mental health challenges faced by rural and regional communities.
    • Why connection, curiosity, and honest conversations create stronger communities than rules ever can.
    • How grief and purpose can exist together, and how small, consistent steps create lasting transformation.

This episode is for anyone who's spent this season reflecting on their own life, carrying more than they realised, or wondering what their next honest step might be.

Together we gather the lessons from every conversation, connect the dots, and lay them all out on the Workbench for the Mind.

  • Season 2 Episode 7: When Resilience Becomes Exhaustion: The Hidden Cost of Always Coping
    Jun 15 2026

Resilience is often celebrated as strength, especially in rural communities where people have learned to survive droughts, floods, fires, financial pressure, and uncertainty. But what happens when the constant need to “keep going” quietly turns into exhaustion?

In this solo episode, I reflect on a conversation that stayed with me after discussing resilience in regional Australia. The assumption was that people are coping because they’ve been through hard seasons before. But what if that’s not the full story? What if many people aren’t becoming more resilient, they’re simply becoming very, very tired?

This episode is a gentle exploration of the difference between resilience and depletion, and why functioning on the outside doesn’t always mean someone is okay on the inside.

    We explored:

    • Why repeated hardship can create weariness, not just strength
    • The quiet signs of emotional depletion that often get mistaken for resilience
    • How disengagement may actually be a form of self-protection
    • The pressure many people feel to always appear “strong”
    • Why functioning isn’t the same as wellbeing
    • The hidden emotional cost of constantly bracing for the next crisis
    • What real resilience actually needs: recovery, connection, support, meaning, and rest
    • Why communities need spaces where people don’t have to perform strength

This episode is for anyone who has been carrying a lot for a long time, quietly showing up while feeling emotionally flat, disconnected, or exhausted underneath it all.

Together we unpack the hidden cost of resilience, then lay it all out on the Workbench for the Mind.

💡 Maybe you’re not failing. Maybe you’re tired because this has been hard for a long time.

  • Season 2 Episode 6: Navigating Family, Farming & Generational Expectations with Abi Cook-Singh
    Jun 1 2026

Family farms are built on legacy, resilience, hard work and the relationships that quietly hold everything together behind the scenes. But what happens when generations, identities, traditions and unspoken expectations collide under the one roof, on the one piece of land?

In this conversation I sit down with the wonderful Abi Cook-Singh, counsellor, researcher, podcast host, and founder of Working It Out Now. After marrying into a fourth-generation farming family on South Australia’s Limestone Coast, Abi experienced firsthand the isolation, pressure, and complexity many women face when stepping into rural family life and business.

What began as personal experience became a 14-year passion project exploring one of the most misunderstood relationships in family systems: mothers-in-law and daughters-in-law in farming families. Abi’s award-winning Working Her Out research has sparked conversations across Australia and internationally about communication, identity, legacy, resilience, and the women who so often become the emotional glue holding families together.

    Together we explored:

    • Abi’s journey from city life and flight attending into a fourth-generation farming family.
    • The hidden emotional load many rural women carry when trying to “fit in”.
    • Why mothers-in-law and daughters-in-law often misunderstand each other, even with good intentions.
    • The powerful story behind a week of shearing, smoko, sandwiches, and the lessons it revealed about identity and belonging.
    • Why curiosity, communication and storytelling are essential for healthy family businesses.
    • The emotional complexity of succession, legacy and generational farming expectations.
    • How changing rural communities, isolation and economic pressures are impacting family dynamics and mental health.
    • Why the conversations families avoid are often the ones that matter most.
    • The role men play in helping bridge communication between generations.
    • How stronger family relationships can create more resilient farms, businesses and communities.

This episode is for anyone navigating family business, generational expectations, rural life, marriage, motherhood, identity, or the quiet pressure of trying to belong while staying true to yourself.

Together we unpack what it means to build resilient relationships on and off the land, then lay it all out on the Workbench for the Mind.
