  • Bare Feet in April Snow: Who Walked Into a Locked Cabin?
    Aug 30 2026
Bare Feet in April Snow: Who Walked Into a Locked Cabin?

Fear that someone - or something - crossed a frozen lakeshore alone and left bare footprints that begin eight feet inside the tree line taps a near-danger curiosity: half an inch of snow blanketed a quarter acre though every weather station within nine miles recorded none, and the trail stops at a locked porch with no exit. What made those size 7-8 prints appear out of the woods, walk unhurriedly 26-inch strides to the steps, and then disappear without a trace?

In this episode, we lay out the facts gathered by Drover County investigators and the state forensic specialist: the location and measurements of the prints, the unusual weather reports, and the lone woman whose life and memory intersect the scene. How do a padlocked door, a paper bag behind a propane cover, and a failing memory fit together in a night no one can fully explain?

Person: Pamela Edwards, age 62 in spring 2019
Location: Fen Lake cabin, western shore, 14 miles from Millhaven
Date: Night of April 8-9, 2019; scene found April 11, 2019
Footprint size: impressions consistent with women's 7-8 or men's 6-7
Snow depth: half an inch uniformly covering roughly a quarter acre

    - The footprints began eight feet inside the tree line, not at the road or shore.
    - Stride measured 26 inches, described as consistent and unhurried.
    - Four prints led to the base of the porch steps and stopped; porch boards were dry.
    - The cabin was padlocked and the front door was intact with no disturbance beyond it.
    - Nearest confirmed snowfall that night was 60 miles away in Wausau (quarter inch); Millhaven recorded zero precipitation.

  • The Voice in the Relay Shed: I Think Something's Wrong

The Voice in the Relay Shed: I Think Something's Wrong

Fear creeps in plain daylight when a calm voice describing a water-stained ceiling tile and a clock running four minutes fast suddenly bursts from a small-town car radio - on a station with no open microphone. WDLR's broadcast log shows uninterrupted classic rock, the relay node panel was unlocked, and a damaged field recorder with a strange coax appeared two weeks earlier; so who used the shed's live port, and why did the transmission say, "I think something is wrong"?

In this episode, we tell the sequence of events that morning in central Illinois: the drive, the unexpected broadcast, the unchanged station log, and the forgotten relay shed with an active external coupling. What connects the damaged rental recorder, the unknown cable, and the voice coming from the radio?

    Date: March 9, 2019
    Location: Dellard, Illinois
    Station: WDLR-FM
    Witness: Scott Schmidt
Object: relay shed external panel unlocked

    - The broadcast interruption lasted roughly 90 seconds before classic rock resumed.
    - The relay shed is a corrugated metal building roughly 12 feet across at the base of the Dellard Reservoir levee.
    - The shed was installed in the early 1990s as a WDLR relay node and was never decommissioned.
    - A field recorder returned damaged 15 days before the broadcast contained a non-standard coaxial cable with a soldered connector.
    - Duane Mills ran past the levee on the same morning without hearing anything; Scott Schmidt heard the transmission from his car radio.

  • The Wallet That Traveled 212 Miles - Who Threw It Away?
    Aug 28 2026
The Wallet That Traveled 212 Miles - Who Threw It Away?

A frozen wallet turned up pressed into mud six-tenths of a mile into Glenn Hunter Trail with a handwritten card that read "Mile 214. Rest Area. February. She knows where." How did a wallet locked for thirteen months in an I-81 maintenance building end up on a Marten County trail 230 miles from its owner - and who moved it?

In this episode, we follow the sequence of events from a rest-area lost-property report and a VDOT maintenance worker's routine sweep to the moment a dog named Biscuit uncovers the wallet, asking whether this was a random misplacement, a bureaucratic error, or something more deliberate.

    Person: Wade Cooper
Location: Glenn Hunter Trail, Marten County
Event: Wallet found under leaves on February 9
Date: Wallet originally lost on February 11 (previous year)
Finder: Nora Pelham (with dog Biscuit)

    - The wallet contained a Virginia driver's license and two credit cards belonging to Wade Cooper and $43 in cash.
    - Pete Dunham, a 63-year-old VDOT maintenance worker, found and logged the wallet on February 14 and placed it in a lost-property lockbox.
    - Wade Cooper filed a lost-property report with VDOT on the day he lost it and later canceled his cards after the report was erroneously closed.
    - The wallet remained in the maintenance building locked for 13 months before being moved to the trail.
    - Nora Pelham found the wallet six-tenths of a mile into Glenn Hunter Trail and handed it to Deputy Scott Farrow, who mailed a standard form letter to the address on the license.
