Since well before Victor Hugo looked up at Notre Dame and thought, "Huh... what if a hunchback lived in there?" authors have been inspired by Paris. The Storytime in Paris podcast will help keep this tradition alive with short interviews and readings from your favorite contemporary authors with a French connection.

Every episode will feature five questions, asked by you, our authors' biggest fans, and answered live on air. Then, our authors will treat us to a reading of an excerpt from their book. Who knows? Maybe you'll even be inspired to write your own Great French Novel. Happy listening!Copyright Paris Underground Radio Arte Storia e critica della letteratura

Ep 80 - Christine Wells, “The Paris Gown”
    Aug 14 2024
Welcome to the finale of the summer season of Storytime in Paris! In honor of this illustrious event, I will be speaking with NYTimes bestselling author Christine Wells. Christine is known for her lavish historical fiction and her latest novel, “The Paris Gown,” takes us to Paris in the 1950s. When best friends Claire, Gina, and Margot scatter to the far corners of the world and then find themselves back in Paris, it might just be a Christian Dior gown that reunites and heals them all.

In our conversation, Christine shares who inspired her main characters, what she learned about Christian Dior that surprised her, what draws her to historical fiction, and more. Would Christine like to go back in time? Listen now to find out!

Ep 78 - Paige McClanahan, “The New Tourist”
    Jul 31 2024
Are you a travel lover? How much do you think about the impact your travel has on the place you’re visiting while you’re visiting it? My guest this week is Paige McClanahan. Paige is an American journalist based in France, who can now add “author” to her list of accolades with the publication of “The New Tourist: Waking Up to the Power and Perils of Travel” just last month.

Brilliantly researched, “The New Tourist” is part travel book, part memoir, and explores the impact that travel has had on the world, how our relationship to it has evolved, and what we can do to move ourselves from the old way of touristing to the new one.

What surprised her during her research and what advice would Paige have for those encountering the Old Tourist? Listen now to find out!
