At 12:00 on the first Monday of every month, we share a Sound of Hope.

Every month, people across Amsterdam hear the Dutch emergency siren (“luchtalarm”) as it is tested nationwide. We’re giving that familiar sound a new meaning.

Together with 72andSunny Amsterdam, Sonhouse, BRAM RADIO and SALTO Radio, we transform Amsterdam’s sirens into the Sound of Hope: a monthly radio moment featuring messages of hope and solidarity from the local community, alongside new creative work by Amsterdam-based artists.

By transforming a sound associated with fear into a moment of reflection, connection and optimism, we’re building a growing network of hope across Amsterdam.

Join us every first Monday of the month at 12:00.

    About this series, Sound of Hope: At 12:00 midday on the first Monday of every month, we broadcast a “Sound of Hope” to Amsterdam and beyond. In Dutch and English. Sound of Hope includes:
    • the city of Amsterdam’s monthly warning siren reimagined as a sound of hope (one-minute)
    • short, uplifting messages from Amsterdammers
    • new creative work from a local music artist or composer.

Maar gelukkig zijn er heel veel mensen die hier tegen in verzet komen. Wij noemen ze empathiestrijders. Op donderdagavond 25 juni, van half acht tot tien uur kun je ze ontmoeten tijdens de allereerste Empathie Bar. Deze avond zit vol lezingen, speeddates en optredens en vindt plaats bij Framer Framed in Amsterdam-Oost.     • This is 'Love Touch' by the Amsterdam-based producer, HAME. He says: “it takes some time to get into the track … with it, I wanted to create music that hypnotizes emotionally into a foundational feeling of love … just for the moment … not 'love' in the romantic meaning of the word but in a more foundational understanding of the world. A transcending feeling of love. I think this feeling is one of the best medicines for hurt and hate.”
    • About HAME: As well as his live DJ sets for festivals like Lago Lago and Paradise City … HAME is the founder and creative mind behind the music label, and event series, Pintai. Pintai organises parties in Amsterdam and other cities across the world. And there’s one coming up on 15 August at TILLATEC.
