  • Choosing Between Solo Travel And Trips With Friends
    Feb 3 2026

Ever told friends about a dream getaway and watched them invite themselves along? We’ve been there. Today we walk through the real tradeoffs between solo travel and trips with friends, and we get honest about freedom, safety, budget, and the hard truth about compromise. Cheryl shares why traveling alone can unlock spontaneity, deeper cultural immersion, and personal growth, while also acknowledging the joy of shared memories and the relief of splitting costs on rooms, rides, and groceries.

We break down the key compatibility questions to ask before you book with someone: travel style (budget vs. luxury), pace (early riser or night owl), food preferences and allergies, and how each of you handles stress and change. You’ll hear practical ways to protect the friendship and the itinerary, like agreeing on must-do lists for each person, setting a realistic budget, planning intentional alone time, and using clear meet-up points so everyone gets space without derailing the day. If you’re drawn to culture and connection, we talk about how comfort zones can quietly shrink your experience—and how going solo or simply splitting up for a few hours opens doors to local conversation and serendipity.

Most importantly, we anchor every choice to purpose. If you need decompression and reflection, solo may serve you best; if you’re celebrating or easing into travel, a friend or group can be perfect. We also cover graceful ways to say no when someone invites themselves, how to align expectations, and how to avoid resentment by being upfront about intentions. By the end, you’ll have a simple framework to choose your mode, design a trip that fits your season, and return with more than photos—return with clarity. If this helped you plan smarter, follow the show, share it with a friend, and leave a quick review to tell us your travel style.

  • Travel Changes You More Than Talk Therapy
    Jan 27 2026

Ever step off a plane and realize your inner compass has swung to a new north? We dig into why purposeful travel can catalyze the kind of change that resolutions rarely deliver, blending lived experience with clear psychology to explain how novelty, presence, and role-shedding rewire the brain.

I share how walking the Camino reset my priorities and helped me defend a morning routine that anchors my days. From there, we explore four science-backed levers: travel breaks the illusion of “only one life,” forces attention out of autopilot, temporarily removes social labels so you can hear your true desires, and integrates insight faster because the body learns through movement and emotion. We compare therapy and travel as complementary tools—therapy explains who you are, travel shows who you could be—and map the exact moments where on-the-road practice becomes at-home change.

If you’re ready to design a life shift, we walk through practical steps to make travel intentional: choose destinations that mirror the pace you want, protect white space on the itinerary, try solo travel to clarify preferences, and set two concrete post-trip actions before you unpack. Whether your goal is a gentler schedule, healthier boundaries, or a new direction entirely, one well-crafted journey can move the needle from thinking to doing.

  • How Four Women Used Travel To Rebuild Their Lives And Find Themselves
    Jan 20 2026

What if one bold trip could change your inner map? We revisit four powerful journeys that show how solo travel becomes a tool for healing, courage, and clarity—without the fluff. From a first solo international leap to New Zealand to a transocean move to Kuwait during a divorce, from mountain summits that silence doubt to Australian sailboats that rebuild self-trust, these stories reveal how movement reshapes a life.

Leigh shares the moment she stopped stalling, booked the flight, and learned the safety posture that projects confidence. Danielle walks us through a midnight decision that led to a job abroad, a season of spiritual and emotional repair, and an unexpected reconciliation. Linda’s battered backpack opens the door to eight-to-ten-mile hikes, where steady effort replaces anxious “monkey chatter” and each summit becomes proof of strength. Tess speaks to surviving sexual assault, finding God on the water, and choosing for herself when no one else could advise her—then channels that grit into building a vetted housing community for women travelers.

We tie these journeys together with practical solo travel strategies: commit with one irreversible step, plan smart without overthinking, walk with purpose, set physical goals that anchor mental health, and build supportive networks that make independence safer and richer. Whether you’re eyeing a first passport stamp or plotting a full reset, you’ll find clear takeaways on agency, resilience, and the quiet power of being alone on purpose.

If you’ve experienced a transformative solo trip—big or small—we want to hear it. Email hello@Cherylbeckesch.com or use the link in the show notes to book a short discovery call. Subscribe, share with a friend who needs courage, and leave a review to help more women find these stories.
