• Chris Bowmer : Looking ahead to the England Lions tour of India
    Jan 22 2026

The England Lions are off to India to take part in India's O60s 'Nationals' Tournament alongside teams from the South, North, West and Central Zones as well as team called the Global Patriots. It's going to be full on with 5 matches in 6 days at the amazing Pondicherry complex which has no less than six cricket grounds.

In this episode we catch up with Northamptonshire's Chris Bowmer as he prepares to be part of the England Lions squad for the tournament. Chris talks about how he only got involved with seniors cricket in 2023 at 60, which is also the number of championship wickets he's taken in the last 3 season.

How his wicket taking got him a trial in 2024, a match for the Chairman's XI v Australia in 2025 and subsequent matches for the Lions.

Chris has post-season moved to Durham so will be joining their ranks in 2026.

For full details of the India tour check out the digital tour programme

We will keep up to date with the tour which runs from Jan 27th to February 3rd

At the same time the England O70s will start their tour of Australia and New Zealand

On our last episode (91) we were joined by England O70s Captain John Evans and Tour Manager Chris Lowe.

  • Scotland Seniors Cricket catch up Clark McConnachie
    Dec 17 2025

In this episode Clark McConnachie, captain of Scotland Seniors O60s, reflects on a first year as Scotland Seniors and members of the IMC and looks ahead to Scotland playing in the O60s World Cup for the first time in August 2026 in Toronto.

Not only have they re-branded - previously all their matches were under the banner of the Forty Club - but earlier in the year Scotland Seniors became the 15th country to join the International Masters Cricket organisation. Scotland Seniors covers all ‘Masters’ ages groups under one roof - O40s, O50s, O60s and at some point going forward O70s.

The Scotland O60s played pre-season matches in April against Lancashire, Yorkshire and Durham/Northumberland. This was followed with matches in May against England and the England Lions and then a memorable full international against Australia at Stirling with final international matches in the Tri-Nations against Wales, England Lions and England - although the latter was cancelled due to adverse weather.

On a recent episode (87) we had the amazing Ron Hedley talking about his fantastic cricket tour to the Vatican and the incredible fundraising for prostate cancer awareness which has raised almost £80,000.

  • Ron Hedley - Vatican Tour and Prostate Cancer Awareness and Fundraising Update
    Nov 10 2025

We first had Ron Hedley on Silver Stumps on episode 6 - March 15th 2024.

At that point Ron had raised an incredible £32000 for the Bob Willis Prostate Cancer Awareness Fund

Ron told us that six months later the fundraising walks would finish on his 75th birthday - September 15th 2024 - at Lords

Well over a year later from that proposed finish the awareness and fundraising continues and Ron has just returned from an amazing cricket tour of the Vatican

We catch up with Ron and discover he’s just as enthusiastic and energised as he was when we first met. Probably more so!

  • Special Guest: Sir Tim Rice - O60s/70s Vice-President
    Oct 9 2025

Sir Tim Rice loves cricket, so much so that back in the early 70s he set up his own side – Heartaches CC – which is still going strong today. In the second week of September for over the 40th time the Heartaches came down to Cornwall to play three matches.

I was lucky enough to play for the Heartaches against Falmouth on the Thursday and then against them for my long-standing club side Mullion on the Friday.

During the Friday match I caught up with Tim and he talked about his love of cricket, how he got started playing cricket, and how he sees cricket moving forward.

We have several guests lined up for the months ahead. If you have an idea for someone who would make a great guest please do let us know via podcast@trevorleemedia.co.uk
