In this episode of Signs & Shadows, I sit down with Dr. Walter Scheu to discuss his personal testimony and how fear affects the life of the believer. It’s an honest conversation about trusting God, facing difficult circumstances, and recognizing how easily fear can influence the way we think and live.

Fear doesn’t always look like panic. Sometimes it means staying quiet when we should speak, holding back when God calls us to move, or worrying so much about tomorrow that we miss what He has placed before us today. Fear of rejection, failure, and uncertainty can keep us from taking steps of faith.

The Seed War | Episode 3: The Promise Under Attack

God made a promise. The enemy wanted to stop it. But through every threat, every failure, and every generation, God kept His plan moving forward.

In Episode 3 of The Seed War, Bud Shropshire and Brandon Butler trace the battle from Abraham to David, following the family line through which God would bring Jesus Christ into the world. What begins with God calling Abraham and promising to bless all nations through his offspring unfolds into a story of faith, betrayal, captivity, deliverance, and war.

From Sarah’s barren womb and the birth of Isaac to the preservation of Jacob’s family through Joseph, we examine how God protected His promise when its fulfillment seemed impossible. As that family grows into a nation, the threats grow with it. Pharaoh orders the deaths of Hebrew sons, Israel faces slavery in Egypt, and the journey toward the Promised Land brings new battles, temptation, and compromise.

The story then moves toward David—a shepherd chosen to become king, whose life is repeatedly threatened before he takes the throne. In God’s covenant with David, the promise becomes clearer: an everlasting kingdom and a throne that ultimately point to Jesus Christ.

How does all of this connect to the conflict first announced in Genesis 3:15? Why does the promised family line face so much opposition? And how do human choices, spiritual warfare, and God’s sovereign purposes intersect throughout these accounts?

Spiritual Warfare: Praying in the Spirit | Series Finale

What do you do after you’ve put on the armor of God? You pray.

Throughout our Spiritual Warfare series, we’ve walked through the armor described in Ephesians 6: the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the shoes of peace, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit. But Paul’s teaching doesn’t stop when he names the armor. In Ephesians 6:18, he urges believers to pray in the Spirit on all occasions, with all kinds of prayers and requests, and to stay alert as they pray for one another.

In this final episode, Bud Shropshire and Brandon Butler talk about why prayer belongs in every part of the believer’s walk. What does it mean to pray in the Spirit? Spiritual Warfare: The Sword of the Spirit

In Ephesians 6:17, Paul tells believers to take “the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” God has given us his Word to help us recognize what is true and stand firm when we face spiritual battles.

The battle for your mind is real, and that is why God has given believers the Helmet of Salvation.

In this episode of the Spiritual Warfare series, Bud Shropshire and Brandon Butler examine Paul’s instruction in Ephesians 6:17: “Take the helmet of salvation.” Just as a physical helmet protects a soldier’s head during battle, the assurance of salvation protects our minds from the attacks of the enemy.

Satan often targets our thoughts with fear, doubt, confusion, shame, temptation, and condemnation. He wants us to question whether God truly loves us, whether we have really been forgiven, and whether we are strong enough to keep going. But the Helmet of Salvation reminds us that our hope does not rest on our emotions, our circumstances, or our ability to be perfect. Our salvation rests on the finished work of Jesus Christ.

Together, we discuss what salvation means, how we can know that we belong to Christ, and how the truth of the gospel helps us recognize and reject the enemy’s lies. We also explore the importance of renewing our minds with Scripture, guarding what we allow into our thoughts, and choosing to believe God’s promises when our feelings tell us something different.

The enemy may attack your mind, but he does not get to define your identity. If you have placed your faith in Jesus Christ, you are forgiven, redeemed, adopted, and secure in Him. Put on the Helmet of Salvation, stand firm in the truth, and remember who you belong to.
