• Ep 104 Reality Check: A Psychologist's Perspective on Narcissism and Relationships on Reality TV
    Nov 4 2026

Welcome back to another reality check episode Whackers! This week we have a very special guest. We had the honor of interviewing Lauren Napolitano, PsyD, a psychologist who specializes in narcissistic abuse and treating women healing from that trauma. She first caught our attention when she started posting content using reality TV and Bravo shows to educate and advocate for women who may be navigating similar situations. We knew right away she would be a perfect fit for the podcast. We loved hearing a high level explanation of what sets the narcissists apart, how narcissism can manifest in different ways, and all of Lauren's hot takes on the reality stars dominating our screens. It's one of our favorites episodes we've ever done and we think you're gonna love it too!

You can find Lauren's content and give her a follow on Instagram at @laurennapolitanopsyd

  • Ep 103: Pop Culture Archives: Can't Hardly Wait to Wait Around for a Man
    Oct 28 2026

It's pop culture archives where we rewatch and recap our favorite millennial movies through an adult (and often feminist) lens to shed some light on why, perhaps, we are the way the we are! Today we're opening the vault on Can't Hardly Wait but first we're yapping about emergency contacts, checking the thornback box, and turning 40. Then it's time to get in the weeds with our pop culture archives review of the 1998 film Can't Hardly Wait boasting a star studded cast of 90s icons. We're digging deep on themes of toxic masculinity, female objectification, cultural appropriation, and all of the classic high school student stereotypes. We're unpacking some of the movie's messaging around unambitious women, romantic expectations, and what young people are being conditioned to think about connections, fate, and happily ever after. As always we wrap it up with gripes about packaging malfunctions and grapes to seasonal delights.

  • Ep 101: Cornell 7, Shane Gillis, RHSLC, RHONY, Spooky Watches (TW)
    Oct 14 2026

Hey Whackers, today we're catching up on all things pop culture. We've had a couple of topic heavy episodes in the past weeks so we haven't had a chance to discuss what's been cycling through the zeitgeist. News flash, not much of it is good. That being said, we're bringing you our thoughts on the Cornell 7 (trigger warning for discussion of sexual assault) and Shane Gillis's SNL monologue. Then we're discussing a specific fallout from the Lindsay Clancy trial that we've seen popping up. We haven't spoken about the trial so as not to spread misinformation about a very intense and high stakes situation but there is one thing we've noticed that seems to be a reaction to the outcome and it's troubling. But first we're yapping about being sick, sayings we've been getting wrong our whole lives, and behavioral diseases we both share. After some heavy discussion about the patriarchy, misogyny, and the unfortunate yet not surprising state of things we're lightening it up with a quick reality check. To be honest we've not got much to talk about because we've given up on RHOC and we'll be picking up Potomac instead. RHOC is not giving this season. We've got some thoughts on RHSLC and RHONY but Sam's a bit behind on RHONY too! Sam's book club is really eating into her TV time! Finally, we've got thoughts on some current spooky scripted shows we've been enjoying! As always, we wrap it up with gripes about sleep interruptions and shoe intruders and grapes to seasonal treats and decor!

  • Pop Culture Queen: What Would Dolly Do? - The Life and Work of Dolly Parton
    Oct 7 2026

It's pop culture queen of the month where we feature an iconic woman owning the spotlight and crown her queen! This week we're digging deep on the life, career, and success of the late great Dolly Parton. But first we're yapping about fall viruses and our 5k race. Next, we've got a quick circle back, surprise surprise, to our Drop Dead Gorgeous episode and then it's time to get in the weeds with our pop culture queen Dolly Parton! Sam's starting us off with the story of her early life growing up in a one room cabin in Tennessee in the 50s with 11 siblings, her introduction to and 58 year marriage with her mysterious husband Carl Dean, and some interesting discussion about her early songwriting. Next, Hollis is walking us through her 65+ year career as a prolific songwriter, singer, producer, actor, and all around successful business woman. In conclusion, Sam is leading a discussion on Dollitics, Dolly's personal lore, and her work and achievements as one our nation's great philanthropists. Dolly is universally beloved as someone who could have easily become a polarizing figure. While Dolly has never made public political statements she has communicated her beliefs and what she stands for through her songwriting. She's been credited by scholars and writers as being a trailblazer of 3rd wave feminism though Dolly herself has always denied being a feminist. She speaks through her music and boy are we listening. She's a legend and an icon and the world was a better place with her in it. We will certainly miss her and perhaps a question we should all be asking ourselves more often is "What would Dolly do?" As always we wrap up the episode with gripes about sickness and lingering flavors and grapes to great Fall cinema and random acts of kindness. See you in the weeds!

  • Ep 99: Pop Culture Archives - Weird Girls and Class Wars in Drop Dead Gorgeous
    Sep 30 2026

Its Pop Culture Archives and today we're opening the vault on Drop Dead Gorgeous. But first Sam's bringing not one but two behavioral diseases to the table for discussion and then we're yapping about bathroom etiquette. We've got one quick circle back to the Sydney Sweeney ad and then it's time to get in the weeds with our PCA review of Drop Dead Gorgeous. Hollis is leading our discussion on easily one of our favorite 90s movies. One thing that makes this movie so interseting is that A., it flopped at the box office but now has a cult following of millennial women and B., it's a female ensemble cast and nothing about this film is catering to the male gaze and there's no "happy ending" that involves getting the guy. Hollis is bringing some fun facts about the film and cast and then walking us through the narrative to discuss some of the movie's themes and messaging. We're getting into some discussions about racial stereotyping in comedy, specifically satire, representations of class in small town middle America, and the absurdity of pageant culture. As always we wrap it up with gripes about colonial hair styles and purse bottoms and grapes to satisfying purchases and occasional doom and gloom.

  • Ep 98: Everything's Coming up Morality, Class, and Racial Hierarchy
    Sep 23 2026

We've got a history lesson for you today Whackers! But first we're yapping about having a case of the Thursdays, BASEketball, and being on time. Then we're giving you our thoughts on Sydney Sweeney's Novig ad, Amanda HIrsch's Poly Market Ad, and selling out in general. Then it's time to get in the weeds with a fun history lesson. Last week's discussion about infantilization got us thinking about some of the things we do that could possibly perpetuate the narrative that women are childlike and submissive and therefore not as capable as men. Due to the recent trend of "I'm just a girl" content we thought it would be interesting to look into the words "woman" and "girl" to get some insight into where these words originated and how they've evolved over the years. We also decided to research certain beauty standards that seem to have emerged very early in western culture and still have us in a chokehold today. We're digging deep on the origin of dresses for women and pants for men, face makeup but specifically blush, body hair removal, and our obsession with thinness. In the end it all comes back to morality (and submissiveness), class distinction, and racial hierarchy. We were certainly surprised by some of the information and we think you will be too! As always we wrap it up with gripes about non standardized puzzles and bad coffee and grapes to running hacks and bestie telepathy. See you in the weeds!

  • Ep 97: Is Society Hell Bent on Hating Adult Women? - Exploring Infantilization
    Sep 16 2026

    Send us Fan Mail

We're digging deep on a recent article in The Cut titled, Confessions of a recovering baby woman on the enduring fantasy of being "just a girl" - and how I finally decided to get a grip and grow up, by Shannon Keating. But first, we're yapping about 20 year old hair dryers, beauty products, and the science (or lack thereof) behind hyaluronic acid. Then we've got a circle back to our conversation about the online dialogue happening between single and married women and an idea to what could possibly be the origin of some of the defensiveness coming from married women and this idea ties nicely into a circle back to our review of Practical Magic. In our review of the movie we mentioned a quote from one of the Aunts in which she states that craving normalcy denotes a lack of courage and we have some expanded thoughts about that. Next, we're discussing a TikTok video and a recent episode of Untold Stories which both demonstrate how easy it is for people to consume the same content and walk away with completely different perspectives. Then, we're diving into a reality check to discuss the latest Bravo goings ons and during this segment we take a minute to reflect on the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Then it's time to get in the weeds with our discussion about The Cut article. The article made some valid overarching points but failed to really get into the meat of the issue and we found her examples to be more representative of life as a young person in general rather than infantilization. There were some good jumping off points but we felt it left a little to be desired overall. As always we wrap it up with gripes about custodial issues and driving hazards and grapes to seasonal changes and film nostalgia.
