    International or cross border sex trade has been called a form of modern slavery because of the way victims are forced into sexual acts. Trafficking is a crime as well as a violation of human rights. Approximately 800,000 people are trafficked across international borders annually and, of these, 80% are women or girls and 50% are minors. The global sex trade is the fastest growing form of commerce, worth $32 billion annually.

    In this episode, we discuss public flogging as a punishment for crimes and how the criminal justice system in many countries is prejudiced against the female gender. The problem with public whipping is the fact that more often than not, the number of strokes can be excessive and the women feel the brunt of the punishment more than the men, including in numerous cases where both the man and the woman were caught in the act but the man basically got a smack on the wrist while the woman got a heavier punishment.

    In this episode, we’ll talk about Afghanistan, the presence of the Taliban in Afghanistan and human rights affected as a result of such presence. Some of these human rights include the right to education, freedom from discrimination, right to peaceful assembly, and so on. Basically, the Taliban, an Islamic fundamentalist group, that ruled Afghanistan from 1996 until the U.S.-led invasion in 2001 have returned to power in Afghanistan 20 years after their expulsion by U.S. troops.
