  • guided meditation cleaning the inner home 11/01/2026
    Jan 10 2026

This guided meditation focuses on the concept of "cleaning the inner home," offering a "spring cleaning" for the mind to identify and release accumulated habits and tendencies. By turning our attention inwards, we can observe habitual ways of thinking and reacting—such as grumpiness or fault-finding—that often go unnoticed but significantly affect our emotional and physical states.

In this session, you will explore the following practices:

    • Internal Observation: Use the "flashlight" of your awareness to notice mental stories without blindly believing them, recognising that these habits are conditioned, impermanent, and "not mine".
    • The Power of Letting Go: Learn to treat mental clutter as "rubbish" that can be released to make room for peace and contentment.
    • Grounding Techniques: Connect with the present moment through the sounds of nature and the rhythmic flow of smooth inhalations and exhalations.
    • Guided Body Scan: Move through a physical awareness practice from your toes to your face, holding your attention gently, like a delicate bird in your hands.
    • Mindfulness of Breathing: Utilise breath counting (from one to ten) or calming words like "peace" and "relax" to replace wandering thoughts and rewire the brain for stability.
    • Heart-Based Cultivation: Engage in "well-wishing" to create a sense of safety and friendliness, allowing your heart to radiate like warm sunshine in all directions.

As you progress, the mind naturally "ripens" in the stillness, much like a flower opening by itself in the sun. By valuing the beauty of inner silence and a spacious mind, you can become a skilful gatekeeper to your inner home, choosing not to pick up the burdens of the past or future.

Experience the freedom of a clean desk for the mind, where solutions arise more clearly and the default state becomes one of ease and clarity.

Analogy for Understanding: Think of your mind as a garage that has slowly filled with junk over the years. This meditation helps you become the gatekeeper at the door; instead of letting every passerby toss in more rubbish, you learn to say "no" to the clutter, eventually revealing a wide, clean space where you can finally move freely.
