This week, Pastor Jim walks us through Ezra 3–4, where the people of Israel begin rebuilding the temple and quickly face opposition. They restore worship, lay the foundation of the temple, and celebrate what God is doing, but resistance soon rises against the work. Their enemies attempt to discourage them, create fear, and eventually bring the rebuilding to a stop. These chapters remind us that following God does not mean we will avoid opposition, obedience often requires perseverance, and we can remain faithful even when progress feels slow or difficult.

This week, Pastor Jim walks us through Ezra 3, where the people of Israel return to Jerusalem and begin rebuilding their worship before rebuilding the temple itself. They restore the altar, offer sacrifices to the Lord, and eventually lay the foundation for the new temple. As the people celebrate, some rejoice while others weep as they remember what had been lost. This chapter reminds us that worship must remain at the center of our lives, rebuilding often begins with small steps of obedience, and God is faithful as He restores what has been broken.

This week, Pastor Jim walks us through Ezra 1–2, where God begins fulfilling His promise to bring His people back to Jerusalem after years of exile. God moves the heart of King Cyrus to allow the Israelites to return and rebuild the temple, and thousands respond by making the journey home. As the people prepare to rebuild, we see God working through both ordinary people and unexpected circumstances to accomplish His purposes. These chapters remind us that God is faithful to His promises, He is always at work even when we cannot see it, and He can use anyone to carry out His plan.
