In this episode, Corrie dives into the significance of the Appointed Times and seasons in the Biblical calendar, emphasizing their spiritual and cultural importance. She begins by discussing the transition from the Sabbath to the various holy days, highlighting the symbolism of harvests and the connection to worship. Corrie explores the historical context of these festivals, comparing them to pagan celebrations that coincide with the same times of year, illustrating the ongoing battle between the worship of the true God and other deities. She emphasizes the importance of understanding these seasons as a reflection of God's work throughout history and into the future, encouraging listeners to engage with the symbolism of the progression of the Lord's seasons in their own lives.
This weeks reading: Ecclesiastes 3
Ponder/Discussion Question:
The body of christ is currently in the “summer harvest season” in our timeline, what does that mean to you? Thinking of the summer harvest crops…grapes, olives, figs, dates. What symbolism of stories from Scripture does this call to mind. I’d suggest reading some of those stories and I can offer suggestions if you would like some.
Personal Question:
What things are currently being “harvested” in your life? What things might need to be pruned in order to support stronger, fuller harvest?
Action: This week, on your shabbat, consider (according to Ecclesiastes chapter 3) what season listed there are you in? And what season listed there is the Lord calling you into? Maybe they are the same. Maybe he is saying it’s time for something new... How am I being fully IN the season I am in now? All I can rejoice in is doing WELL that which is front of me.
