The CIA has admitted to a "benign cover-up." But what was it actually covering?
Summary: On November 22nd, 1963, President John F. Kennedy was shot in Dallas, and within a year a government commission declared it the work of one man. More than sixty years later, the National Archives is still posting new records. In this entry of The Tin Foil Diaries, we separate the proven cover-up from the unproven plot. We walk through the chaotic first days in Dallas, test the famous "magic bullet" and grassy knoll claims against the evidence, and look at what the CIA's own historian admitted about what was kept from the Warren Commission. We follow the paper trail from the 1979 House committee's "probable conspiracy" finding, to the 1982 scientific review that undercut it, to the massive file releases of 2025 and 2026, and ask why most Americans have doubted the official story for six decades.
In this entry:
- The first three days in Dallas, from Dealey Plaza to the Ruby shooting
- The Warren Commission's conclusion and the five big alternative theories
- The magic bullet, the Zapruder film, and what the evidence actually shows
- The CIA's "benign cover-up" and what it kept from investigators
- The Castro plots, the Mexico City surveillance, and the destroyed FBI note
- The House Select Committee, the disputed acoustic evidence, and the 1982 review
- The JFK Records Act and the 2025 and 2026 file releases
- Why polls show a majority of Americans still doubt the lone-gunman story
