A proposito di questo titolo
Sea to Trees tells the stories of the science happening in and around Acadia, from the rocky shoreline to the evergreen forests to the granite mountaintops. In Season Four, we’re getting up close and personal with three areas in Acadia: freshwater wetlands, granite-topped mountain summits, and boreal forests. Sea to Trees is generously sponsored by the Cathy and Jim Gero Acadia Early-Career Fellowship, a partnership among Schoodic Institute, National Park Foundation, and the National Park Service.Copyright 2026 NPS - For Personal Use Only Scienza
  • Season 5 | Audio Footprints
    Oct 28 2026
Bats of all kinds in northern North America have been struggling with white-nose syndrome for two decades, now. Researchers in Acadia National Park and Katahdin Woods and Waters National Monument are doing their best to track the situation, and they’re using nets and microphones to do it. In this episode we get up close and personal with bats and the sounds they make, including their unique echolocation calls—their ‘audio footprints’, if you will. Never heard a bat echolocate before? You’re in for a treat.

  • Season Five Trailer: Sea to Trees
    Oct 26 2026
Season five of Sea to Trees is just around the corner, and we have an excellent cast of characters. We have appearances from no less than three Acadia Science Fellows, Schoodic Institute’s own Nick Fisichelli, and… my mother’s coworker? She’s actually a great help. Tune in this winter for episodes covering endangered bats, spruce trees, and the history hidden under Acadia’s shorelines.

  • Place-based Science | The Coastal Spruce Fir Forest
    Feb 18 2026
Along the coast of Maine a special cold-adapted forest ecosystem thrives: the coastal spruce fir forest. The cool air that blows off the ocean provides an ideal environment for these colder species, but their future, like many, is uncertain. In this episode, we’re traveling through time to understand how coastal spruce fir forests in Acadia have changed over the past sixty-six years.
