  • Embracing Faith and Simplicity: Lessons from Matthew 6
    May 28 2024

Welcome to today's episode where we dive into the profound teachings of Matthew chapter 6. This chapter offers timeless wisdom on how to live a life of genuine faith and simplicity.

We begin with a reminder to perform good deeds quietly and sincerely, without seeking public admiration. The importance of private prayer and the power of a heartfelt connection with God are emphasized, teaching us to avoid empty repetitions and to trust that our Father knows our needs even before we ask.

The Lord's Prayer is presented as a model of how to communicate with God, asking for daily sustenance, forgiveness, and protection from temptation. Forgiveness is highlighted as a key principle, illustrating the reciprocal nature of God's mercy.

Fasting should be a private act of devotion, not a display for others. Storing up treasures in heaven rather than on earth is advised, urging us to focus on eternal values rather than material wealth. The metaphor of the eye as a lamp underscores the importance of maintaining a pure and healthy perspective.

Lastly, we are encouraged not to worry about our daily needs. By observing how God provides for the birds and flowers, we are reminded of His care and provision for us. Seeking God's kingdom and living righteously will ensure that all our needs are met, allowing us to live in peace and trust each day.

  • The Temptation and Ministry of Jesus
    May 26 2024

Welcome. Today's reading will be from the book of Matthew, chapter 4.

Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, to be tempted there by the devil. For forty days and forty nights he fasted and became very hungry. During that time the devil came and said to him, "If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become loaves of bread." But Jesus told him, "No. The Scripture says, 'People do not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.'"

Then the devil took him to the holy city of Jerusalem, to the highest point of the temple and said, "If you are the Son of God, jump off. For the scriptures say, 'He will order his angels to protect you and they will hold you up with their hands so you won't even hurt your foot on a stone.'"

Jesus responded, "The scripture also says, 'You must not test the Lord your God.'"

Next, the devil took him to the peak of a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. "I will give it all to you," he said, "if you will kneel down and worship me."

"Get out of here, Satan," Jesus told him, "For the scripture says, 'You must worship the Lord your God and serve only him.'" Then the devil went away and the angels came and took care of Jesus.

When Jesus heard that John had been arrested, he left Judea and returned to Galilee. He went first to Nazareth, then left there and moved to Capernaum, beside the Sea of Galilee, to the region of Zebulun and Naphtali. This fulfilled what God said through the prophet Isaiah: "In the land of Zebulun and Naphtali, beside the sea, beyond the Jordan River and Galilee, where so many Gentiles live, the people who sat in darkness have seen a great light. For those who live in the land where death casts its shadow, a light has shined."

From then on, Jesus began to preach, "Repent of your sins and turn to God, for the kingdom of heaven is near."

One day, as Jesus was walking along the shore of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon (also called Peter) and Andrew, throwing a net into the water, for they fished for a living. Jesus called out to them, "Come, follow me, and I will show you how to fish for people." And they left their nets at once and followed him.

A little further up the shore, he saw two other brothers, James and John, sitting in a boat with their father, Zebedee, repairing their nets. He called to them, too, and they immediately followed him, leaving the boat and their father behind.

Jesus traveled throughout the region of Galilee, teaching in synagogues and announcing the Good News about the Kingdom. He healed every kind of disease and illness. News about him spread as far as Syria, and people soon began bringing to him all who were sick. Whatever their sickness or disease, or if they were demon-possessed or epileptic or paralyzed, he healed them all. Large crowds followed him wherever he went—people from Galilee, the Ten Towns, Jerusalem, from all of Judea, and from east of the Jordan River.

May you be blessed by the hearing of God's word.

  • The Journey of the Wise Men and the Flight to Egypt
    May 25 2024

Welcome to today's reading from the book of Matthew, chapter 2. This episode recounts the birth of Jesus in Bethlehem during the reign of King Herod. Wise men from the East arrive in Jerusalem, seeking the newborn king of the Jews, guided by a star.

King Herod, disturbed by the news, consults religious leaders about the Messiah's birthplace. They confirm Bethlehem as the prophesied location. Warned by God in a dream, the wise men avoid returning to Herod. Meanwhile, Joseph is instructed by an angel to flee to Egypt with Mary and Jesus to escape Herod's wrath. • The Creation Story: Genesis 1
    May 23 2024

In this episode, we explore the profound narrative of Genesis 1, recounting the creation of the heavens, the earth, and all living beings. The episode begins with the earth being formless and empty, covered in darkness, as the Spirit of God hovers over the waters.

God's command brings forth light, separating day from night, and establishes the sky, land, and seas over the first three days. Vegetation sprouts forth, each plant and tree bearing seeds to produce more of its kind.

As the story unfolds, God creates the celestial bodies, assigning the sun to govern the day and the moon to govern the night, along with the stars. The waters and skies teem with life as fish and birds are brought into existence, followed by the creation of animals on land.

Finally, God creates human beings in His own image, granting them dominion over all creatures. This detailed account of the six days of creation culminates with God looking over His work and declaring it very good.

  • The Baptism of Jesus: A Divine Encounter in the Wilderness
    May 4 2024

Welcome to today's podcast. In this episode, we delve into Matthew chapter 3, where John the Baptist emerges in the Judean wilderness with a powerful message: "Repent of your sins and turn to God, for the kingdom of heaven is near." The prophet Isaiah had foretold John's mission, describing him as a voice shouting in the wilderness to prepare the way for the Lord.

John's unique appearance and diet, wearing clothes made of coarse camel hair and eating locusts and wild honey, drew people from Jerusalem, Judea, and the Jordan Valley. They came to confess their sins and be baptized by him in the Jordan River. However, John did not hesitate to challenge the Pharisees and Sadducees, calling them to prove their repentance through their actions.

John emphasized that his baptism with water was only a precursor to the one who would come after him, who would baptize with the Holy Spirit and with fire. This person, John declared, was far greater than himself.

The episode reaches a pinnacle with the baptism of Jesus. Despite John's initial hesitation, Jesus insisted on being baptized to fulfill all that God required. As Jesus emerged from the water, the heavens opened, the Spirit of God descended like a dove, and a voice from heaven proclaimed, "This is my dearly loved son who brings me great joy."

Join us as we explore this profound moment in biblical history and reflect on its significance. May God bless you.
