  • 5.10.2026 "Living Hope: Arm Yourselves"
    May 10 2026

The book of the Bible - 1 Peter - is a letter from the disciple of Jesus to early Christians suffering at the hands of a hostile culture. In chapter 4 of the letter, Peter advises his hearers: "arm yourselves."

That may sound understandable - considering the context. However, Peter is not advising them to literally take up arms against their abusers. He's speaking about a different kind of conflict. Not one without - - but within.

While we don't live in the same hostile setting as Peter's hearers - - every culture has components that do not coincide with the Christian faith. How do we resist them? In this sermon, Pastor Kevin unpacks how to "arm yourself" as a Christian.

  • 5.3.2026 "Living Hope: Doomsday Preppin'"
    May 3 2026

In 1 Peter chapters 2 and 3 - Peter shares "guidelines for holy living" to the Christian people he's writing to. Now, that may sound exactly like the kind of thing you'd expect the Bible to talk about, and therefore, for Peter to be writing about.

But once you know the context of the audience - the "reasonableness" of it all starts to go out the window.

What guidelines would you give someone who was living in a tyrannical state, oppressed by governmental forces? What advice would you give to people living under active persecution?

Peter's answer may surprise you. And his advice is just as essential for those of us living in a culture that is accepting of our religion, as it is for those who live in places hostile to it.

Listen and learn Peter's advice - and why it is essential for you.

  • 4.12.2026: "1 Peter 1:1-12"
    Apr 12 2026

Sufjan Stevens once said: "Everyone suffers; life is pain; and death is the final punctuation at the end of that sentence, so deal with it.”

It may be harsh...but it's true. And while we live in a day and age where our most basic sufferings have been minimized (through technology, healthcare, etc.) - we still suffer. And in some ways, our comforts have set us up perfectly to be unable to "deal with it."

How are you dealing with yours?

In this sermon, Pastor Kevin unpacks the beginning of 1 Peter and demonstrates that there's way to get through life unless you know how to get through suffering. And there's no way to get through suffering unless you have a Living Hope.

What's that? Listen to learn more!

  • 3.29.2026 "The King" (Palm Sunday)
    Mar 29 2026

People have a lot to say about Jesus. The world has been talking about him for the last 2,000 years. There's clearly something to this historical figure that has people wondering..."Who is He?"

In John 12, there's a multitude gathered as Jesus rides His way into the city of Jerusalem. And in this chapter, we're met with a distinct answer to the question. Who is Jesus? "The King of Israel!"

But, this claim doesn't go far enough. Jesus, through His life, death, and resurrection, claimed that "All authority in heaven and on earth had been given" to Him. He was claiming to be King of the Universe.

Why would He claim that? What warrant did He have for such a claim?

In this sermon, Pastor Kevin speaks to the "confession" of faith that those gathered in Jerusalem were making about Jesus - why it's right - but what it means for those who "pledge allegiance" to Him in this life.
