On this episode of the So She Did Podcast, Kristin talks with Project Manager and Award-Winning Professional Speaker and Author Gail Meriel, whose new book Inspiring Women Professionals Who BossUp: Learning the Ways of Women on the Rise Making an Impact is available on Amazon. The two discuss the 5 different types of Imposter Syndrome and how they exhibit themselves in our lives: Expert: Not matter how much you learn, it doesn’t seem to be enough to make you feel successful. This person might equate their self worth with titles. Soloist: You feel inadequate if you have to ask for help. So, you often go it alone--and may just burn out. Perfectionist: Set high goals for yourself and if you compare yourself to others. You push so hard toward perfection, that anything less feels like failure. Gifted: You set high goals for yourself as well, but you believe that you should be able to get it right on the first try. If you don't, your self-esteem may take a big hit. High Achiever: Push yourself harder and harder to the point of burn-out. Kristin suggests that often people do not want to start something until they have ‘checked all of the boxes’ to get ready, but sometimes just starting is all that you need to do to be ready and that it is okay to learn on the job.
