Jesus makes two “I AM” statements: I AM the Door and I AM the Good Shepherd, proving Himself to be the only way to the Father and the more and better shepherd. Unlike the religious leaders, who look out for themselves like the shepherds of Ezekiel 34, Jesus fulfills the role of Good Shepherd, one who cares for, guides, provides for, and protects His sheep.
