He is shut down, and you are the one doing more. So you go looking for the right question, the thing that will finally open him up.

That is not where it is. If you are shut down, he is not going to be able to hear you either.

The difference is how open am I?

Energy gets circulated even if you are standing ten feet from him, or flirting with a man you have never met. You see someone across the room, he smiles back, and something is happening. There is a circle. That is play. Keep it going — but the moment you shut it down, it stops.

And he can only get as open as you are open. He does not trust his knowledge, or his hands, or his abilities. He no longer trusts anything. So this is where you are the leader. You are the one who opens.

You have an opportunity with the guy you are with — to help him open up and to feel confident, by you opening up and receiving and being curious and playing.

He says the conversations are boring. And you go back through everything you said, looking for the part that was wrong.

That's not where it is. What is boring is when people talk from here up. I did this, I did that, that was interesting, what do you do?

He is not saying I'm bored by what you're talking about. He is saying I'm bored because you're talking about you.

Reporting is boring.

Poetry is not boring.

You can be saying the most personal words in the world, but if your body is shut down, he can't feel it.

It is the same as a singer with a great, amazing voice who doesn't move you - you appreciate it, and then you go read your phone.

What stops you scrolling is somebody dancing their heart out. Something you can feel.

So he is not feeling something.

Which means you are not open.

We all say we want to be seen, and yet we are all terrified of being seen.

You want to be silent, because you are afraid of the feeling coming out - and yet you are still ringing. Men can feel the ring. And they can feel you sitting on it.

So find the moment you were terrified and kept going anyway. That is your hero story.

Then get into play, and you can ask anything. Because if you feel like you're playing, you are just at a much deeper level of yourself.

What if you don't feel fun? What if you are feeling dull, and you're not feeling like flirting at all?

Sad, mad, glad, afraid — that's the basic set.

And the instruction here isn't to swap the one you've got for a better one.

It's to sink down into it, until all of a sudden the feeling is bigger and you start to feel: I'm alive. It's like the electricity being turned on.

Who says you cannot have pleasure and grief at the same time?

You can be releasing and having a pleasure experience. You can feel fear and be turned on at the same time. Do you want to hold on to that feeling, or do you want to let the next one come?

Letting these feelings surface is the key to all of this — and it is about flirting.

You're not always happy. But you are always feeling. That is the key here.
