What do you actually want?

Not what your parents want. Not what society expects. Not what Instagram makes you feel like you should want. You. What do you actually want?

In this episode of Richie’s Talk Zone, Richie takes a step back from the pressure to have life figured out and asks one of the simplest but hardest questions: What do you actually want from your life?

After talking about juggling multiple lives and learning that you’re not everybody’s emergency contact, this episode goes deeper — into identity, expectations, comparison, career, relationships, success and the pressure to constantly look like you’re making progress.

We talk about the Nigerian “expectation package,” the difference between having an impressive life and having a fulfilling one, how social media can distort what we think we want, and why being busy doesn't necessarily mean you're moving forward.

Sometimes, you don't need another five-year plan.

Sometimes, you just need to pause and ask yourself:

“If nobody was watching, what would I choose?”

In this episode, we talk about:

• The pressure to have your life figured out
• Family and societal expectations
• The Nigerian definition of “success”
• Comparison and social media
• Wanting an impressive life vs. a fulfilling life
• Career, relationships, and personal ambitions
• Being busy vs. actually being productive
• Giving yourself permission to want something different
• Why your dream doesn't have to make sense to everyone
• Figuring out your next step when you don't have everything figured out

Richie’s Reflection

Maybe you don't need to have your entire life mapped out.

Maybe you just need to be honest about what you want right now and give yourself permission to pursue it.

Because you can spend so much time building the life everyone thinks you should want that you forget to ask whether you actually want it.

Listen. Think. Talk about it.

Have you ever found yourself saying “yes” to everything, even when you're already overwhelmed?

In this episode of Richie’s Talk Zone, Richard Coleman takes a candid, humorous, and relatable look at the pressure to always be available for everyone else while neglecting yourself.

Following our conversation about juggling multiple responsibilities in “How Many Lives Are We Supposed To Be Living?”, we explore why saying no can feel so difficult, the guilt that comes with setting boundaries, and the expectations placed on young adults navigating life, work, family, friendships, and relationships in Nigeria.

From being the “strong friend” everyone relies on to helping others when you're struggling yourself, this episode asks an important question: Are you genuinely helping because you have the capacity, or are you simply afraid of disappointing people?

Richard also shares personal reflections on managing multiple brands, building his creative projects, navigating content creation, and learning that being productive doesn't always mean doing more.

This is a conversation about boundaries, people-pleasing, emotional exhaustion, self-care, and the importance of making room for yourself without becoming selfish.

Because you can care about people without carrying their entire world.

And sometimes, saying “I can't do this right now” is not wickedness. It's wisdom.

In This Episode, We Talk About:

• Why saying no can be so difficult.
• The pressure to always be available for friends, family, and colleagues.
• The burden of being the “strong one.”
• People-pleasing and the fear of disappointing others.
• Setting healthy boundaries without feeling guilty.
• The difference between being needed and being loved.
• Managing responsibilities in a challenging Nigerian economy.
• Why being busy doesn't always mean being productive.
• Protecting your time, energy, and personal goals.
• How to support others without completely exhausting yourself.

A Few Questions to Think About

Are you saying yes because you genuinely want to help, or because you're afraid of what people will think?

What are you giving up every time you agree to something you don't have the capacity for?

And when was the last time you showed up for yourself?
