It started about a month ago in a Publix parking lot, of all places. I was sitting there praying, asking God to help me understand how the world had become so angry. I asked why it was so hard for people to love their neighbor as they love themselves. And He responded, "Maybe that's exactly what they are doing." It was like being struck by a lightning bolt. I grabbed my phone, opened my notes app and started writing everything that came to mind after that.
What you're about to hear is partly what I wrote. I couldn't stop thinking about what God has said. People are struggling to love themselves or to feel loved. And that is how they are showing up for others. They bring the pain, isolation and hurt to the table which shows up as contempt, bitterness and anger for others. So I decided to read what I had written and record it at 1:30 in the morning. Raw. No plan. Just me and whatever He was telling me in the moment. For some parts I am reading and others just feeling convicted in the moment.
I recorded it on my phone with no intention of ever sharing it — so I'll go ahead and apologize now for the audio quality and all the sniffling. I had a hard time getting through it. That's how I knew it was important.
I never planned any of this and people who know me would be shocked to know I am doing this. But ever since that night I have felt called to build something around a single idea — that love is the greatest antidote for the pain of the world we are living in. Not the easy kind of love. The radical kind. The revolutionary kind. The kind that costs you something and changes everything. And slowly, that calling became this. A place to remember that we were never meant to do this alone — that we were made to love each other, and everything comes alive in us when we do.
We need to learn how to love again; ourselves and each other.
So will you join me? Help me start the revolution?
I call this my manifesto. Welcome to Revolution Faith.
