Mark Chapters 11 & 12 — Authority and Accountability

Episode 425

In this episode of Relevance For Today, we dive into Mark chapters 11 and 12 using the World English Bible. We see Jesus enter Jerusalem, cleanse the temple, teach through parables, answer difficult questions, and remind us of the importance of loving God and loving others.

The Message

Authority! — The power or right to give orders and enforce obedience.

As Jesus entered Jerusalem, the crowds welcomed Him with shouts of "Hosanna!" Shortly afterward, Jesus entered the temple and drove out those who were buying and selling.

When the religious leaders questioned His authority, Jesus challenged them and continued teaching the truth.

But here's something important for us to remember:

Jesus Christ isn't just someone we read about — He is our Lord and Savior!

If we call Jesus Lord, we also need to let Him have authority in our lives. That means listening to His teachings, obeying God's Word, loving God, loving others, and being willing to examine our own hearts.

So, let's ask ourselves:

Are we truly allowing Jesus Christ to be Lord over every area of our lives?

Let's honor Him not only with our words, but also in how we live.

Mark Chapters 9 & 10 — Faith, Humility, and a Heart to Serve

Join me as we continue our New Testament journey through the Gospel of Mark using the World English Bible. In Mark Chapters 9 and 10, we witness the amazing Transfiguration of Jesus and continue learning what it really means to be one of His followers. Jesus teaches His disciples about faith, humility, serving others, marriage, children, possessions, and eternal life. We're also reminded that greatness in God's Kingdom looks very different from greatness in the world. Jesus tells His disciples that He did not come to be served, but to serve and to give His life as a ransom for many. What an example for every one of us! As followers of Christ, we're called to live with humility, love others, serve where God has placed us, and keep our priorities focused on Him. As we read these chapters together, I pray God's Word encourages you and challenges all of us to become more like Jesus in the way we live, love, and serve others.

Mark Chapters 7 & 8 — It's About the Heart and Following Jesus

Join me as we continue our journey through the Gospel of Mark using the World English Bible. In Mark Chapters 7 and 8, Jesus reminds us that what is happening inside our hearts matters. We see His compassion as He heals and ministers to those in need, and once again He feeds thousands of people with only a small amount of food. We also come to a very important moment when Peter declares that Jesus is the Christ. Jesus then begins teaching His disciples about what lies ahead and what it truly means to follow Him—to deny ourselves, take up our cross, and follow Him. These are powerful words that still speak directly to us today. Following Jesus is more than simply knowing about Him. It's about surrendering our lives and choosing to walk with Him each day. As we read together, I pray these chapters encourage all of us to examine our hearts, strengthen our faith, and continue growing closer to Jesus Christ.
