In this episode of ABCs for Leadership & Life, we explore how gossip can become a counterfeit form of connection and self-esteem. Talking about someone rather than talking to them may give us a temporary sense of belonging, validation, or even superiority, but it can quietly damage trust, relationships, and another person’s reputation.
We’ll explore the motives that can hide beneath gossip—including insecurity, resentment, envy, and the need to justify ourselves—and how greater self-awareness can help us choose a healthier response.
You’ll also learn practical ways to step out of gossip when someone brings it to you, how to distinguish gossip from healthy processing, and why courageous, honest, and respectful conversations create stronger relationships.
It’s time to release the grip of gossip, protect the dignity of others, and use our words to strengthen connection rather than tear it down.
Pause. Notice. Choose your words wisely.
