A proposito di questo titolo

Over a decade of struggling with poor body image and eating disorders, I knew I had to heal my relationship with food and my body—not only for myself, but for my future children. I was determined to break the cycle of dieting and body loathing and raise my children to accept their bodies and follow their intuitive eating cues. Now as a mother, I've discovered that so many parents share the same concerns. They want to know how to best support their children's food and body image relationships. This podcast is for those parents who seek non-judgmental, evidence-based, and practical support to navigate their children's journey towards intuitive eating and body confidence, no matter their age. Each week, we’ll explore the latest research, answer your questions, and provide actionable tips to help you support your child in developing a positive relationship with food and their body.Copyright 2025 Alyssa Said Genitorialità e famiglie Igiene e vita sana Relazioni

  • Why We Shouldn't Give Food Rewards to Kids
    Nov 21 2025

    Hello and Welcome to the Redwood Wellbeing Podcast, where each week I am dedicated to supporting parents on the journey of nurturing their child's healthy relationship with food and their body image.

    Through practical, everyday strategies and tips, I help you to become empowered to make a lasting difference in your child's wellbeing journey.

    In this mini episode I discuss;

    • Food rewards being unhelpful because they;

    -Encourage extrinsic motivation

    -Are a form of Operant Conditioning

    -Create a food hierachy instead of neutrality

    -Build an emotional link to eating

    -Create mixed messages

    -Can decrease interest in reward-free activities

    -Can undermine internal appetite cues

    -Set up patterns that increase cravings

    -Teaches that pleasure food must be earned

    • That food should still be celebratory and bring joy
    • What to do instead of using food as a reward.
