Welcome back to Season 10 of the Recovering Perfectionist Podcast!

Welcome back to Season 10 of the Recovering Perfectionist Podcast! In this episode, Christine chats with Ilia Kolosov, life and mindset coach, Managing Director of Aida Dance USA and the driving force behind the company's growth throughout North America. Since launching the business, he has transformed Aida USA from a one-man operation selling shoes out of a duffel bag into one of the leading distributors of premium ballroom dance footwear in the United States. As a life and mindset coach, Ilia works with ballroom dancers, professionals, entrepreneurs, and people navigating high-pressure seasons of life. He is not a dance instructor and does not teach dancing. His work focuses on the person behind the performance. His coaching is personal, direct, and practical. He helps clients identify the patterns underneath their stress, fear, avoidance, perfectionism, conflict, and self-sabotage, then turns those insights into better decisions, stronger habits, clearer boundaries, and real accountability.Ilia’s approach has also been shaped by his own experience as an entrepreneur, husband, leader, and someone who has had to confront his own failures, blind spots, and difficult seasons rather than simply talk about growth in theory. He is especially effective with people who already know a lot, have heard plenty of advice, and are ready to stop circling the same problems. His goal is simple: help people become more honest with themselves, more intentional in their choices, and more reliable in the way they show up in their work, relationships, and lives.

Welcome back to Season 10 of the Recovering Perfectionist Podcast!

In this episode, Christine chats with Dr. Anna Kjose ("Dr. Anna"), a licensed psychologist who specializes in performance psychology for ballroom dancers, performing artists, and other high-performing individuals. Drawing from advanced training in performance psychology, expertise in trauma and the mind-body connection, and firsthand experience as a competitive ballroom dancer, she helps performers develop the psychological skills needed to thrive both on and off the competition floor. She earned her PhD in Counseling Psychology from the University of Oklahoma, where she developed expertise in trauma, emotional regulation, and the mind-body connection. She is also a founding member of a multidisciplinary organization dedicated to supporting the health and well-being of performing artists. Dr. Anna's philosophy is rooted in the belief that exceptional performance and psychological well-being are not competing goals—they strengthen one another. Ballroom dancing presents unique psychological demands because success depends not only on individual excellence, but also on the ability to cultivate healthy, resilient dance partnerships. Helping ballroom dancers build the psychological foundations of performance excellence—through Self, Partnership, and Performance.

  • 096 - Aging Athletically
    Mar 22 2026

Welcome back to Season 9 of the Recovering Perfectionist Podcast!

In this episode, Christine chats with Dr. Meena McCullough, Doctor of Physical Therapy with over 15 years of clinical experience working exclusively with dancers. Meena is the creator of Body Spring, a dance-focused physical therapy and movement education company dedicated to helping adult dancers move better, feel more stable, and stay in the dance longer. Body Spring bridges the gap between rehabilitation and high-level dance performance. The work focuses on fascia, joint mechanics, and whole-body connection, addressing the underlying patterns that lead to stiffness, pain, instability, and recurring injuries.

The goal is simple: to help dancers age athletically, move with confidence, and keep doing what they love.

Meena also invented the The Dance Foot Posture System™, a structured, fascia-based training system created specifically for adult dancers who want to improve performance without pushing through pain or stiffness.

Unlike generic foot exercises or balance tools, this system teaches dancers how to restore internal support from the ground up by retraining foot posture, pressure management, and joint sequencing. The result is better balance in heels, cleaner technique, improved connection through the legs and core, and fewer injuries over time.

Designed for Ballroom, Latin, Smooth, Rhythm, Country, and social dancers, the system is time-efficient, easy to integrate into daily practice, and appropriate for dancers who started later in life or are returning after injury. Many dancers report noticeable changes in how they feel and move within minutes, with deeper, lasting improvements developing over several weeks.

This system is not about doing more. It is about preparing the body so technique can actually land.
